I know there is no recourse for those convicted of federal crimes that prohibit firearms ownership. There are no federal funds available... unless you get a presidental pardon, you are screwed for life.
State crime... felonies or even domestic violence usually have some degree of recourse... be it expungement or pardons at a local level... usually after a certain amount of time passes.
What about people judged mentally defective? I don't see anything in the law that has a provision for being "cured". If I am committed, rehabbed and released... am I now free to go out and buy a gun?
