I am looking at a tactical shotgun. I would like to be able to use for some target shooting, action shooting and maybe skeet. Not looking to be good with the gun, just have sonefun. The Rem 870 tactical has a threaded choke. Does the Mossberg 590 or Be4nnelli have this ? I liked the Mossberg 590 but it didnt look like it. Thanks

They do make 590 barrels threaded for Accu-chokes. In fact, this forums is where I learned that. Someone else has posted a picture of a 590 with internal chokes at least once.

They don't list a lot of things on their site, such as replacement barrels for their 8-shot 500s. But they do. 20", the original, and 28" with accu-choke.

Here are the numbers for the 590's barrels.
95330 Plain, Bead Sight 18.5", Accu-Modifield, Parkerized MSRP
95332 Plain, Bead Sight 18.5", Cylinder, Parkerized, MSRP
95334 Plain, Bead Sight 20", Accu-Modified, Parkerized, MSRP
95336 Plain, Bead Sight 20", Cylinder, Parkerized, MSRP

Go to their Maverick site to find 500 Persuader barrels.

Short is, it's not factory. You have to buy a new barrel. Why? Their most common customer, police and military, wanted them with the Cyl or IC chokes, fixed. They do offer barrels with the accu-choke system, though.

Spoke to Mossberg. With this gun you would have to change barrel and a few other parts to allow for the use of a choke. This specific gun barrel does not have a choke nor does it allow one.Gets expensive. Remington 870 allows chokes on the express tactical blac finished gun

What other parts would you have to change? Because last I checked, the only part on the shotgun involved with the choke at all is the barrel itself, and they sell those, with the parts numbers I listed. Hell, if you have a competent gunsmith worth a damn, he can thread the barrel for you for cheap.

The PolyChoke II is a neat accessory that looks mean on a tactical shotgun. It screws in and you adjust it with a twist of the wrist. You can then use your tac gun for any type shooting, from slugs, buckshot, or light birdshot loads for skeet or hunting.

I believe the mag spring was mentioned my Mossberg and I think he mentioned one other part. I just bought the Rem 870 Tact with Rem Choke. Got a great deal at Cabbellas. Employee pricing less $20 cabbella coupon and Rem rebate of $30. Put it at $345

HUH???!!?? - magazine springs have NOTHING to do with chokes - where the hell did THAT come from??

Chokes deal with constriction near the end of the barrel.

GeeSus........there's some real BS floating around................

Indeed.

The only thing you'll need to change for a choke is the barrel. You could even have a gunsmith thread a barrel you already have, too. Whether or not that saves money... it up to the gunsmith.

This is what 2 Mossberg reps told me on 2 seperate calls to Co. I thoght it was odd but figured they know the product
