Added micrometer sight, now shoots low

I replaced the L shaped "wartime expediant" site on my GIBBS 303 with a Enfield micrometer site.

Now it shoots low (about 18") at 100 yards. I need to set the rear site to 400 yards to keep it on paper at 100 yards.

I don't know if I can put a short-enough front sight on it to compensate.

Any ideas?

What kind of front is on it now? The original military or a sporter ramp? If you can measure from the center of the sight aperature to the center of the bolt or bolt ways with your mike sight set at 100 that will tell you how tall your front sight needs to be above the centerline of the bore. You may have to change to a shorter ramp to get a short enough front sight. You won't know until you measure it. George

There were several front sight blades for the later Lee-Enfields.

My original No5Mk1 Jungle Carbine shot way low at 100 yards, even more than your 18" low. I bought the front blade assortment from Springfield Sporters and used the shortest one to bring things back to an even keel again. Piece of cake.;)

Hmm.. Springfield Sporters shut their doors last week. I'll check for a front blade assortment from a few other places.

Yes, its the original military blade on a jungle carbine type front sight/flash hider type combo.

Really?

Springfield Sporters is gone?

Dang it! I had a couple more Lee-Enfield restorations to finish, and was planning on ordering parts from them. Crap-Ola!:(

Where can I get the shorter front sights? Do they come in a set of all 6 or 7 heights, or does my $1.00 just buy one?

The various online places (Brownells, Emrich) just describe it as "front sight", without any more detail.

I have read that some other folks were able to get a set of sights from Springfield Sporters, but as they reportedly just closed their doors a week or so ago, thats not going to work.

Any ideas or info?
