If this is your first 1911 you need to be careful, your other firearms will get jealous when you slight them in favor of your new toy, 1911s can be addictive
Good choice, Colts are my favorites. All 1911s manufacturers make them slightly different in dimension, weight, and balance. Colt makes some of the lighter all steel 1911s and feel best in my hand. Enjoy!!
No doubt that Colt Mfg. is building some excellent out-of-the-box 1911's these days, I wish they'd also build a few excellent "snake" revolvers for old times sake!
