I'm of the opinion that every hunting rifle should be equipped with a good sling and one of my pet peeves is the fact that I sometimes have to add swivels to a rifle after purchase. Uncle Mikes quick detachables are hard to beat. A stud needs to be installed on the butt and the front stud is affixed to the tubular magazine by simply screwing it on. I prefer my hunting rifle slings to be well-made, simple and light in construction (I'm not a fan of the "Cobra-style" because I think it adds too much unnecessary weight and bulk to the sling) and out of leather, with the facing surface made from suede to help prevent slippage while carrying.
I insist on the "quick detachable" style of swivel because much of my deer and varmint hunting involves sitting on a stand and I like to be able to remove the sling quickly and easily. A sling on a rifle can catch on things like branches if you are hunting from a concealed position or if you are "stalking" and not just carrying your rifle on your shoulder going from one place to another.
