Is there that much difference in single shot bolt action, and bolt actions wth a magazine? I'm talking short actions. I know the singles are much stiffer, and easier to bed.
Well Pete, the bolt actions with a magazine have a magazine, and the single shot bolt actions don't. I am pretty sure that isn't what you meant with your question though. If you explain what kind of information your looking for, I'm sure someone will be able to answer it.

Thanks, I'll get the Savage 12VBSS-S in .223 and see if it shoots better than my Savage 12VBSS in .223 with Sharpshooter trigger. Here's my .223 BVSS http://albums.photopoint.com/j/ViewPhoto?u=1159038&a=8520676&p=27574086
The difference in stiffness is so marginal as to be insignificant in my opinion. A simple professional recrown job or bolt lug lapping would give you much more bang for your buck. Now, if you are talking about 'sleeving' your gun or epoxying a steel tube around the receiver there are some increases in accuracy to be expected but a little bit of metal at the bottom of the receiver isn't going to make much difference.
Unless your benchresting, the difference is slight. If you want the best use of your dollars, fine tuning the three Bs in your current rifle is more productive. (barrel, bullets, bedding)
There is an increase in potential accuracy, but the rest of your system has to be right too.
I beg to differ, but the magazine cutout can make a difference in action stretch. Yeah, the things stretch, especially with hot loads. A solid bottom action will see less case lengthening than one with a magazine cut.
