I do the opposite--only do the front enough to get the action level in the stock then torque the rear holding the rifle vertically pushing down. How much torque I do depends on how solid the bedding/pillar is (or is not). Most accustocks these days I believe come with a steel or aluminum sleeve in the screw holes--but there still may be "squishable" plastic in the trigger guard etc. so it's better not to go too hard on the torque. The recommendations in the manual for your particular rifle is a good place to start.type of stock ?bedded? pillared? all different ...little each ,front firstshoot increase by 5 ip
For Savages, with the factory stocks, i torque the front to 35 lbin. Then torque the rear to 15 lbin.
After i do my load development, i then load 24 cartridges to tune my action.
