Greetings California,

There are 5 anti-self defense bills that have been
introduced in California, thus far, including TWO
Draconian licensing bills.

All of the aforementioned bills have been referred to
the Committee on Public Safety; the Committee is
scheduled to have a hearing on AB22 and AB35 on
2/27/01. As free citizens, we cannot afford to let
any of these bills be enacted into law.

A full list and brief description of the bills is as
the end of this note.

CALL, WRITE, AND FAX GOVERNOR DAVIS TO PROTEST THESE
BILLS!

Governor Gray Davis
State Capitol Building
Sacramento, CA 95814
Phone: 916-445-2851 Fax: 916-445-4633

AB22 - RESIDENTIAL DEALER LICENSES
Would prohibit the issuance of licenses to sell
firearms at retail from a residential dwelling.
Certain rural exceptions would apply.

AB35 - LICENSING

Must provide thumbprint to local law enforcement; Must
perform safe handling, shooting proficiency, and
written test; Must register with law enforcement,
every handgun owned by licensee within 1 year of
issuance of license and annually thereafer; Requires
department to maintain current database containing all
of the information submitted by licensee applicant;
Makes it an offense for licensees to possess any
unregistered handgun, violation allows the
confiscation of unregistered handguns.

SB8 - FIREARMS
Adds the word "handgun" to the dangerous weapons laws.

SB9 - CRIMINAL STORAGE: MINORS
Current law mandates that firearms must be stored in

handguns; Must be 21 or over to obtain a license; Must

shooting proficiency; Requires Department of Justice

WRITE GOVERNOR DAVIS TODAY!

In Liberty,

Jennifer and Joe
Second Amendment Sisters
California State Coordinators

It is over

Writing to Davis or other Democraps won't do any good IMO. :( These Commies have their minds set and letters won't do a damn thing. The gun grabbing polititians are not going to change based on a few hundred gun owners writing them. This is the end of handgun ownership in Kalifornia as we know it. These laws will pass. There are two choices: move or stay. I know one thing, I will not buy any more handguns in Kalifornia once the law takes effect. Hopefully, I will be out of this poop ridden state before the new laws takes effect.

Unfortunatly, I have to agree with Quantam here. I live in CA and it's sooooooooooo Anti-gun here, that I believe in 10 years all handguns will be banned in the state, and 90% of all rifles and shotguns will be banned too.
Before the laws take effect, I will be the 2 handguns I want and that will be that until I get out of this Socialist hellhole and into a real state that respects freedoms.

Its too bad the way things are in California,
I know alot of people with old guns not registered
and people with "registered" guns (new purchase).
Nobody I know will abide by these silly new laws
should they pass.
It looks like California is trying to make "felons"
out of law abiding citizens..
If these laws pass I am going to have to ship most
of my guns out of state..
I guess the old post of
"If you could only choose 1 handgun
what would it be??"
someday may really apply...
Its sad....

Either in ten years we'll all be owning automatics again, or in twenty we won't own diddly. I honestly believe it's all going to come down to the Emerson case.

I to am working on getting out of this socialist state. These new laws really piss me off. But as useless as it may be, it is still our responsiblity as gun owners and freedom lovers to do what we can to fight these potential bad laws. We should still write those letters, make those calls, and send those emails.

Remember, evil wins if good does nothing.

I too would like to run away, but that is not
possible with my current job and wife and kids
being rooted in Kali....
I am going to stay and fight for the rights
that the Constitution give us and the the Liberals
should be the ones who leave (wishfull thinking
I know).
Maybe the current Energy Crisis will change some
peoples mind about the way this State is going.
(probably not)
Maybe now that GW is President things could change
here in
Hellifornia
(more wishful thinking I suppose)
Please Educate me on the "Emerson" case..

Scariest thing about the Kali situation

What if the rolling blackouts stop rolling while over your home?

The energy crisis is helping big time, it makes Davis and the socialist look like bumbling idiots. It will be no surprise in '02 when all is forgotten and the socialist' get re-elected.

One ray of hope is Arnold for governor, and this would eliminate Davis from the '04 presidental running.

The "terminator" for governor would be nice,
God knows he can't make a decent movie anymore..
lol
There are too many rich liberal democrats here in
Hellifornia,
with MP5 armed bodyguards to worry about us
"little people"

I have not experienced any blackouts here in
SoCal...rolling or otherwise....
Could this be another Urban Myth to line the
pockets of the.....oh, nevermind....
My kids need my help with their social studies..
TG out----------

I think writing Gov, Davis could be very effective If he receives enough letters. He is a political pragmatist and his main objective is to get relected. He is in terrible trouble over the power crisis and I doubt that he wants to enrage a large group of voters.

I agree with Hard Ball. If Davis was flooded with letters, and considering the mess he is in with the power crisis, he might consider a veto. A very, very slight "might" however.
Having said that, I think most or all of these bills will
get passed into law, unfortunately.

Buy what you want now for the forseeable future. Like Quantum S., if AB35 passes, I will not be buying any more handguns. But, I think it will be a short step for
them to require the license for ownership and not just purchase. In fact, I'd bet money on it, along with
the likelyhood of them expanding the law to cover
rifles and shotguns as well.

The only long-term solution is to leave. I don't think the people of this state are going to have an ephiphany regarding individual rights and freedom any time soon.
That puts those of us with family and other ties
out here in a very, very tough spot.
