Acquiring an FFL

Anybody here have their FFL?
I'm thinking about getting one and have been researching it.
Anybody have any tips on speeding the process up or have things to watch out for?
I've see the FFL kits that people have for sale but is it beneficial to purchase them?

Thanks.

--Besides all the forms, you'll be fingerprinted several times. And about half the time those prints will have to be re-sent. Then there's your local and state reguirements. Just follow the instructions. Get to know your ATF agent that covers the area.
--And in about a year the license should arrive. It's not an instant process so just hang in there.

If you do not have a commercial address and a storefront, good luck.

I was under the impression that you simply had to fulfill several objective criteria? Is there enough discretion to stop someone who would like to transfer and sell guns from doing so, even if they do not have a storefront?

BATFE has been cracking down on small time FFLs for a number of years now.
They have been requiring you show compliance with local zoning laws, business license laws, sales tax permits, etc. to reduce the number of FFLs.

They have been pretty effective in many areas.

It is likely to be easier in more rural areas that do not have extensive zoning laws.

There used to be 3-4 indiviuals with FFL's in and around my town. They did some gunsmith work, and sold a few guns. They worked out of thier homes. They are all gone now. Too much hassle. What brickeyee is saying, isn't far off base.
