ACLU runs Ad against Lieberman!

Why post a snippet in context of a discussion site thread when you could just as easily have posted The Full Original Story?

Turns out the ACLU ran the same ad against selected Republicans AND Democrats, some of whom are NOT up for re-election. ACLU claims the ads were based on those politicians' votes on such issues as wiretapping and prisoners' rights. I don't necessarily agree with their position, but the article does quote "A former member of the Federal Election Commission, Scott Thomas" who clearly states that he thinks the ads will pass FEC muster.

So, where's the news?

The news is in the fact that they have no business running an Ad on either side. As a tax free organization they are supposed to remain neutral---period--otherwise jeopardizing their tax free status. As 1 of the responders put it----
The Government (taxpayers) give money to the (non-profit, supposed to be non-political and non-partisan) ACLU to supposedly fight free speech abuse. Then the ACLU uses that money in POLITICAL ads.

Time to stop that funding!
