Acid dip effect on springs

I would like to refinish a Rem 870 and I'm concerned about the pre-park pickling effect on the delicate ejector spring, as well as on the shell-stops - the "embrittlement thing". I'm so concerned about this that I'm soliciting opinions on different forums. This particular 870 has been parked before, and these springs are now black. What effect can acid dips and parkerizing (itself an acid solution) have on springs, particularly the thin little leaf-spring of the 870 ejector?

Depending on the acid.
Good way to kill a spring.

Expirement...
Compress and tie a coil spring.
Put in mild hydrochloric (or such) acid.
The temp of the liquid will rise as energy is released from the spring.
And if you leave it in long enough, when you untie it, will stay at the compressed dimension.

For what it's worth, I know of no refinisher that removes either ejector or shell stop springs from the 870. They finish them with the parts in place.
 
Romulus, I've seen no ill effect on these parts from parkerizing. Like Dfariswheel said, unless the stops fall out or the ejector already needs replacing these parts are rarely removed for refinishing. I don't pickle parts prior to parkerizing and as I said I haven't seen any problems resulting from the phosphuric acid used in parkerizing solutions. George
