Accuracy &/or reliability diffs. btwn. Ital. & US Beretta 92FS?

Maybe it's just the two 92FS pistols I compared, so I won't draw general conclusions. IMHO the Italian 92FS has a much nicer finish, the chroming on the barrel comes to the muzzle, the slide to frame fit was tighter, the DA and SA pulls were much smoother and it was more accurate than the US made 92FS I compared it to. Both had the same exceptional reliability. For my money I'd get a NIB Italian 92FS just because they're getting harder to find. You can't go wrong with either.

So many pistols, so little money.

Some may disagree, but in general I find that the Italian-made Berettas are a bit better as to fit and finish.

Nevertheless, the U.S. Berettas are excellent products. They're also more readily available. So I have more U.S. Berettas than Italian ones, despite a certain preference for the latter.

I spoke to beretta a few days ago about this same subject. The said the Italian guns have little better level of Quality control and better finishing.

Fit n finish is a little better on the Italian guns, performance is the same as far as reliability/accuracy from what I've seen (I've had both in 9/40).

Keep in mind that the first 500rds in a new Beretta are the worst. Accuracy sucks, there are FTFs, and they're generally poor performers....

Once the gun is broken in though, WATCH OUT. I've fired both,(I own a US one) and can't tell the difference until shooting at 25yd targets(the Italian one kicks @$$ at 25yds).

I have almost 10K through mine now, and I haven't had a FTF(Even with some of my
sh!ttiest reloads) since the 500 mark. My gun takes it all....

I have a 92FS and a 92G Elite. i know the 92FS is made in the US but i'm not sure about the Elite. i can shoot the Elite more accurately but thats because it has better sights and a trigger job.

My 92FS has functioned perfectly out of the box. i have never had any jam or malfunction in it and i've put over 3500 round thru it so far. It is quite accurate as well.

berettas are designed to not need break in periods. At the factory there is a machine that cycles the slides 300 times which achives 2 things: 1. allows the slide to be cycled by the human hand (if this wasn't done the tolerances would be too tight for even the strongest man to pull back). and 2. allows the gun to wear in enough to function properly out of the box.

i don't know if this holds true all the time. sometimes they may need break in periods but mine didn't. as for the accuracy being bad in the beginning well when i got mine i was an awful shot so i can't comment on that. ;-)

My experience with my US 92FS, mirrors Russell's.
It is quite simply the most accurate pistol I've ever had the pleasure to shoot.
And to think it was NIB and I've had no 'extras' added to it. :)

have tape, won't travel...

...defend the 2nd., it protects us all.
No fate but what we make...
