Accuracy of Weatherby Cartriges?

I have read a few places that the Weatherby Chamberings tend to be less accuracte than most due to the fact that they have a longer amount of freebore. Is this the experience of those who shoot Weatherby Cartridges?

I have a Weatherby SLS in .257 Wby mag----I don't know about the other chamberings---but my rifle is amazing. We clocked the 100gn factory loads at 3700 fps. My 100 meter groups are usually touching-------200 and 300 meter groups are nearly as good.

With scope and mounts my rifle tips the scales at around 10 lbs. Not good for carrying all day----but a very stable platform for launching those little 100 gn bullets----recoil is hardly noticeable with that big 'ol rifle combined with small bore and light weight bullets.

Pretty much a point and shoot rifle out to 300-350 meters. Just put the crosshairs on em and squeeze the trigger.

Weatherby has always guaranteed that their rifles, with their ammo, will put three shots inside an inch at 100 yards, or send it back.

For hunting, that's plenty good enough. Ya gotta remember they've never advertised themselves as makers of target/competition rifles.

I had to tweak with the forearm bedding of my Mark V '06, but thereafter I got mostly 3/4" five-shot groups. 4,000 rounds and 30 years later, I'm still staying well inside one inch for three-shot groups.

Thanks for the responses. I am thinking about getting a 7mm Weatherby in an Accumark for deer and an occasional elk. I looked at one at the store the other day and it seemed like a pretty nice rifle. Their stocks fit me really well and the rifle really balanced well.:)

"Their stocks fit me really well and the rifle really balanced well."

Well there ya go. Probably 90% of the feel-good of shooting.
