Accidental Shooting

Several days ago I posted an article about a guy who was carrying cocked and locked. He was carrying legal using an IWB holster. Somehow the guys gun discharged and he was shot in the leg. Girlfriend loaded him up and raced to the hospital, the guy bled to death enroute. Bullet caught a major artery.
I was in my local gun emporium yesterday and asked a city cop if he knew any of the skinny on this. All he heard was the guy was carrying IWB with holster in the front between pants snap and front pocket. He said the Detectives that investigated their end had no clue on the gun. This didn't happen in the city but a next adjoining township.
Will let you know the gun make as we find out. For what its worth :)

As the Sargeant on Hill Street used to say
"Lets be careful out there!"

Happy Shooting :)

Lesson number one (if it's true about the carry location) NEVER ues the "felony carry" position, with or without a holster. Too much important stuff on the front side of the crotch area. If the holster had been properly located he might have lost a few ounces of behind to the muzzle blast.

Lesson number two (if the cocked and locked is true) NEVER carry a gun condition one unless it's made to carry that way. A 1911, for example, CAN'T fire accidently in this condition. It must have the thumb safety disengaged, the grip safety depressed and the trigger pulled - which is physically impossible whilst sitting in said holster. The trigger pull part is required of almost any gun and, as I said, is nearly impossible while sitting in a proper holster.

This series of events reminds me of the tale about the cop who dropped his Glock on the jail house floor and it "just went off". BULL PUCKY!
