Absolute Best Shoulder Holster 1911

Hello all,

I'm in the market for the best shoulder holster I can find for my Kimber 1911. I've used some Galco holsters for short periods of time and tried some cheap no name elastic products that didn't impress me. I wear a suit ever day so I'm not overly concerned with printing, unless a certain product is just blantly bad. I def need the horizontal for my draw. Other considerations I have are being able to run, carrying two mags with best ease of access, being comfortable, etc. I'm 5'11", 200lbs. Some of the brands I'm considering are Alessi, Garrity, Bulman, and Andrew's...It seems nobody around town here knows much about the higher end shoulder holsters so I figured I'd come on here. I know I can buy and return some of these products, but thats not my style. I don't know anyone that has any of these products so feedback from guys who've owned any of these would be greatly appreicated.

Galco makes the Miami Classic I and II (I is horizontal and II is vertical gun placement). Galco makes some of the nicest leather goods out there, but the rig is expensive, running around $180.

$180 isn't bad in my opinion for having a holster for life. I wouldn't mind paying up to $350 if I know I'm getting the best and it is the most comfortable, best for concealment, best for draw, best warranty, etc holster. Galco is good, but I'm looking for something better...
 
The difference between the Miami Classic I & II is not the position of the holster. It is the type and location of the mag carrier. The I has vertical mag carriers with covers and the II has horizontal mag carriers and no covers. The Jackass rig allows a somewhat more diagonal carry of the pistol and has vertiical mag carriers

I like mine and was happy with the cost.

Folks rave about Andrews leather products.
 
Ask for "the best" and expect to get alot of different answers ;)

I have a Galco Miami Classic... Is it the best? I have no idea, but it works great for me.
 
I appreicate the input...If I did go with a Galco I would go for the Jackass because both the Miamis don't hold the pistol close enough to the body. I really want a wider strap on my back than some of theirs offer. I'm also remember I probably need tie downs or something in case I need to run. I am debating right now between the Galco Jackass, Alessi Bodyguard, and Garrity Royal Flush. I've heard that since Lou, Alessi quality has dropped, but I'm not too sure...I also haven't talked to too many people about Andrews...

I really like the looks of the Garrity rig and the Andrews Monarch rig... no personal experience with either, but they do look nice.

Have a good friend who owns both a Miami Classic and an Alessi Bodyguard. He feels the Bodyguard beats the Classic hands down.

(I don't know if it matters, re: quality and construction of the rig, but he bought his Bodyguard when Louis Alessi was still alive.)

Del Fatti, Aker Comfort-Flex, Bianchi...

I'd look into the shoulder rigs from Aker; www.DeltaForce.com , DelFatti(it's not cheap and may be out of service for a few more months), the Bianchi line, the Lawman Leathergoods STU(a standard black treated leather design/vertical carry); www.Lawmanleathergoods.com .

I like the slanted carry style of the leather Aker model but like the options of Galco's Miami Classic II. I'd prefer a horizontal mag holder to free up more room on the belt line(for a 2nd gun/back-up or maybe a taser/OC spray).

Mitch Rosen & Greg Kramer sell shoulder rigs too but they may take months to get from the leathersmiths.
 
I prefer the Galco Jack Ass to the Miami Classic. It's cheaper, and I prefer a design that doesn't attach both straps to the top of the holster. Having the rear strap attach low makes the whole rig more stable.
