About to take the CZ75 plunge...

Well I've found an incredible deal on the new urban grey sp01 suppressor ready and can't pass it up(first CZ!). A friend is selling it to me after impulse putting it on layaway and then finding a good deal on a smith model 19.

Well back to my original post, I hear that there are some incredible upgrades out there for the cz75 series through cz custom and cajun gun works.

The CZ I'm getting has the omega trigger system and is the decocker only "tactical" version. I love the feel of the gun and actually like the goofy big ole sights.

So I'm wondering if there are any recommended upgrades that would work with the omega system and decocker?

Thanks!

So far the only one I've done is the CGW SRS1 Kit and a floating trigger pin. For $66 plus shipping it really makes a huge difference. Reset is about 50% shorter (just going by feel) and the DA trigger pull improved a lot.

Just my opinion....the decocker and Omega features are for when you know what you want. I would learn the platform with a 75 B or SP-01 safety type.

If aftermarket parts are in your mind, definitely consider a non-omega manual safety model. All others have a way smaller aftermarket.

Go slow on your upgrades. The only one I'd rate as essential is changing out the factory sights, but I believe (no firsthand experience) that the newer guns finally got rid of those stupid faint little dots.

Otherwise, the next best one I'd recommend is the DA upgrade (extended firing pin + lighter main spring). It dropped the DA on my guns from around 12 pounds down to 6.5 pounds (with the 11.5 pound spring) or 8 pounds (13 pound spring) and no light strikes in about 5,000 combined rounds over the last two years or so.

Otherwise, you really don't need any upgrades other than shooting enough to smooth the action. I did buy a CGW pro package kit for my 75B, but that was really just a fun project to occupy my time. The improvement is real and substantial, but not necessary.

Tucker - thanks for the feedback on it I've heard nothing but good about the short reset kits! Have you had any reliability issues using it?

Nathan - I understand where your coming from. I am wanting the decocker version as it will be a nightstand gun and I've primarily shot glocks and revolvers. I am not a huge fan of safety's on a defensive gun I also am not a huge fan of the omega system because of the smaller aftermarket parts availability. I know Cajun gun works still makes kits for it though and I like the idea of a simpler trigger system in terms of simpler is better and less parts to break. But I also know that for competitive shooting and aftermarket support the standard trigger a with a safety makes more since. On top of that I am getting an amazing deal on it so if I am unhappy I could easily sell it for more than what I'm spending ;)

George thanks for the report on reliability! I'm thinking an 85C safety only with a pro package may be in my future as a competition gun... I love the standard feel of a 75 or 85 without the heavy front end with the light rail. Both serve a purpose and I like both but I think I slightly prefer the feel of the original

I think the classic 75/85 just look better without the rail. I bought my 75B used for $350; I plan on getting it refinished in glossy blue to complete the project.

CZ all the way,... I was a big Glock and Beretta fan until I bought my first CZ 9mm and took it to the range. I can shoot my CZ way better than I can shoot my Glock or Beretta, and it's the CZ 75 compact with a shorter barrel ! I then bought a CZ P 09 40 S&W in which I can shoot equally as well.

I may be wrong but SP-01 decocker guns do not have omega triggers which is a good thing. This gives you more options for trigger work.

I bought it tonight! I found out that it is not the Omega trigger system, the p01 comes with it not the sp01. I am loving the gun! It's my new nightstand gun. I slapped on a light I had laying around and its perfect for my bedside. :)

Any suggestions on trigger components for the sp01 tactical?

If you're comfortable twerking on your own guns, I'd check out CGW. Just spent a bit o' money with them in the last few months. Turn awesome guns into really awesome guns with their products.

Constantine, I think it's time I change my signature! Haha :) also I think your the minority on the site about the CZ's haha. Better than a sig though right?!

I hope you enjoy it! I've had as good luck with CZs as HKs in terms of function. CGW makes some excellent parts with the customer service to back it up. There are some good guides out there that can be found to walk you through the process (look for good pictures), plus CGW will help you on the phone too.

And while you're at it go ahead and order this-

Because the OEM trigger pin is junk and will deform when you remove it.

If you're like me you have a tendency to get super excited and in a rush over new guns/gun parts, don't. My CZ sat in pieces in a bag for a week and a half while I waited for the replacement trigger pin that I was advised I should buy in the first place but didn't because I'm a dummy. Go slow and you will be more than satisfied with the results.

Brando, not an SP-01 or CZ 75, but concerning trigger upgrades, when CZ Custom did my P-07 DAO conversion they installed an extended firing pin, a 13# mainspring, and polished the internals a bit. The result is a buttery smooth 6.5# pull with reliable ignition on a variety of rounds. Good luck with your project and congrats!
