In case you blow by posts made by someone that *hides* behind an alias, you might want to consider what this group is doing.

Off the soap box.

Forgive my ignorance, RAE, but do I understand you correctly? Are you saying the latter of each name is an alias for the former of each name?

Sponsored? Sponsored?

Gunslinger

We live in a time in which attitudes and deeds once respected as courageous and honorable are now scorned as being antiquated and subversive.

Sorry to be so vague and unclear. I see a number of posts where people complain about the use of handles as opposed to a persons real name. One post even mentioned how it was hard "to take someone serious" when they post under an alias as opposed to their real name. It just P@ssed me off a bit to see such an attitude displayed here, especially when the people mentioned above, mostly under either a handle or an alias, are putting the money where their mouth is, getting off their tails, and doing something positive. Instead of a public show of support, a few recent addidtions troll on in and post crap about the use of handles. It ain't fair, and it ain't right. I for one, take the above people very serious, and commend them for their fine efforts. Again, sorry to be so vague with the initial post. I was a bit ticked off when I posted it, and after a morning at the range, feel a lot better.

I'm still not sure I understand what's bugging you, but I like your cure. Fire off 2 boxes of Winchester and call us in the morning. Handles and alteregos don't bother me one way or the other, I try to consider the content of the post over the 'nom de plume' of the author. The only thing that does bothers me are those mouthy people who don't post a full profile, as sometime it is better to take a discussion off-line, and those who don't provide an avenue for discourse apparently don't want to be taken seriously, IMO. Glad you're feeling better, and remember, you're never alone with a schizophrenic (sp?). M2

Getting testy, here, people? Well, don't. I spent the morning and some of the afternoon at the range, and feel MUCH better. Surprising what a hundred or so rounds shot for record will do for your ego. Especially if the practice you've been putting in over the previous month paid off in spades...!

I don't know specifically what RAE means by "Sponsored," unless he means that one told the other about this place... Dave/TheBluesMan is not, to the very best of my knowledge, Don Gwinn. Etc, etc...

It so happens that some people that I respect mightily are posting under names that some people might not "take seriously." But so what if the guy's name is PurpleDinosaur... does he know about guns? Does he make good points?

Why are we so very hung up on names? Man, this sounds like a redoux of the "Why don't people like Massad Ayoob?" thread!

And about those names... do you have to have whole names, like Mark Freeburg, or is a first name okay?("Dennis," Administrator) How 'bout nicknames? ("Rob," Administrator and Charter Member) What about initials of real names? ("DC," Administrator, Legal and Political moderator and Administrator at Large, Resident Sicilian Concierge) If you want to know who we are, just ask.

Frankly, if you want to know what bugs ME, it's folks without an email address to reach them at, off the board. But since everybody in THIS discussion HAS an email address, if we have any flaming to do, do so OFF my forum, please. :)

Laters,

L.P./Matt

NO!NO!NO!
I am NOT saying that the people listed are one in the same! I am saying that recently a new poster to this forum made some comments about the juvi nature of *hiding* behind an alias or a screen name! It galled me because of the trolling nature of the thread. I am merly pointing out that the people in the original part of this thread go largly by screen names, handles, or an alias! These *seemingly* immature people are doing a great job of giving away memberships to the GOA or the NRA. I personally don't give a sweet GD what you call yourself. Jeeze, I even got into a heated discussion with "nobody" myself, and learned quite a bit from it. George Hill had a great deal of my respect while posting under the Kodiak handle, and believe me, I took him very serious when he commented about taking a .45 round, and still going. Spartacus is another example of a screen name or handle that I would trust 100% in everthing that he says. Why? Well, his been there done that, and learned from it has a ring of truth to it. Law Dog, and you Matt, as Long Path are 2 more examples of "non-name" posters, that I put a very large measure of faith in. Stephan A. Camp, or handle, the man has a remarkable amount of class, regarless of how it is posted. HS from down under, another example of a very high quality poster. Big Bunny, with his always serious and no nonsense approach. Lest I leave out DC. How many newcomers mistake her id and refer to her as him. Show me one other poster here or anywhere else that contributes more than DC. Miss D? Guns and Rosie? Longhair? Cornered Rat? Gwinny? El Jefe? ElChimango Pete?I could go on and on. These are the people that contributed a whole lot more than a "teaser" topic. I think it's ungrossly fair to make a public statement and lambast these people. Like I said before. Troll.

RAE is referring to the fact that the above mentioned people sponsored others for membership in various pro-RKBA organizations

"Quis custodiet ipsos custodes" RKBA!

RAE--The first question you were asked, sir, was exactly that. I don't understand why it took you two posts and quite a bit of confusion to answer a question that was asked of you immediately and directly.
