About CZ's and Glocks

I posted an earlier message on an alternative to my P95; I did get a response back on the CZ 75B being a great pistol so I visited my favorite FFL to check one out.

My first observation was that it was a bit heavy and cycling the slide took a more effort than the P95.
More importantly, the trigger had a two stage feel to it and it definately was not the lightest I've tried. What type of trigger action is going on as you start your pull?

After I put the CZ down I went to a G19--more money than I wanted to spend but it felt very natural in my hand and had a smooth if odd pull. Got me thinking Glock real quick; what are the current prices for LNIB or factory refurbished G19's and I'd appreciate the names of some dealers carrying them.
Thanks in advance.

I was lucky enought to be able to shoot a friends G19 side by side with my CZ-75B a few weeks ago. The Glock is certainly smaller and handier as it should be since it`s comparing a mid size to a full size auto. The CZ manual recomends cocked and locked carry first then cautions that you can use DA mode if you`re careful so I generally use the CZ cocked and locked. In this mode it has a much better trigger pull than the Glock. Both were very accurate at close range but the CZ did slightly better as the range increased. When doing side by side drills they were about neck and neck. I was curious about trying the CZ`s DA out so we did some more drills in DA mode and to my suprise I did just as well. In fact I do slightly better with the CZ in DA than my P-97 even though the P-97 feels much better in DA and has a much shorter trigger reach. I have no idea why this is! I still use the CZ cocked and locked. At the end of the day I had a new appreciation for Glocks (I`m thinking of getting a G30 now) and the other guys I was shooting with are both saving for CZ-75s to add to their collections. You can`t go wrong either way. :D Marcus

Shoot both if you can.

CZ75s have DA and SA pulls (unless you get a SA only variant), so the pull weight depends on whether the hammer is cocked. Unless you feel cofortable manually lowering the hammer on a round, I suggest you get a CZ75 Decock version. The only is that with the decocker equipped pistol you can't carry cocked and locked so you've got to get used to the DA pull. Don't overlook the CZ75 Compact with the alloy frame.

I prefer the G19 because it has a simpler manual of arms and the same trigger pull for all shots fired. It's lighter, more rust resistant, and more compact than the full size CZ75. Prices vary wildly from area to area. In my area NIB G19s sell for as much as $550 and used pistols for about $450. Check out www.glocktalk.com for more information.

I would definately try one before you buy it. Aside from that, a new Glock goes for about $500. Around here, the prices sometimes fluctuate like the stock market.
