About choke tubes....

Back around 1990 I had an 870 bbl shortened, and the smith threaded it for Colonial choke tubes. Some Hastings chokes also fit. I now have a set of the things from Skeet to Extra Full, and find they do the job nicely, and I've gotten some great patterns with them.

Here's the deal, I have a hunch that these duplicate some major maker, but the smith who installed them is rather close mouthed about which maker it is. I figure he wants me to return to him for more tubes rather than obtaining them elsewhere.

I did find out these are .795" X 44 TPI. Anyone know if these are a standard size with Beretta, Winchester, etc? They certainly aren't Remchokes, the only other system I've used.

I may have him do the forcing cone on another 870 bbl and set it up for matching tubes, but I'd like to be able to pick up a tube w/o a 100 mile drive.

Thanks in advance, Dave McCracken...

Those are commonly referred to as the "Tru-Choke" size tubes, Dave. Brownells has them from several manufacturers for around $12 per tube and up.
