nightline has a story on right now on how "unregulated" the firearms industry is, how easy it is to get an ffl license for $90 and start selling guns. Other segments tell how many of these dealers started selling in volume, and many of these guns ended up being used in crimes.

One segment had someone who was a firearms store owner who "had to close down" because of all the unregulate dealers (as he put it, the postman, doctors, etc) where underselling him. Also goes on to say there aren't enough BATF agents to check on all these dealers because this guy ran a store front operation for something like 9 years before BATF visited him to look over his books.

Various parts of the show were on how the S&W deal was suppose to help regulate things (read good), and how parts of the agreement would affect dealers (how if they were to sell S&W items they would be prohibitied from selling things that were legal by law to sell). One person who was a member of a firearms industry group spoke of how he started getting calls from the government to cooperate with the S&W agreement as soon as it was signed.

impression - overall, a spin on an out of control industry that needs more regulation and more BATF agents to regulate it.

I watched it too, and I concur with your assessment. Just more liberal media schlock designed to incite the sheeple to anger/panic over us "evil gun-nuts!"
