A word about Miculek and grips

I have a set of Miculek speed grips that I got 2nd or 3rd hand in 1999. I tried them some time ago and didn't have much luck fitting them to the 625. Time passes, Now I have a 625-6 MG and decided to have another go at it. Still didn't want to fit. So I pick up the keyboard and contact Bang Inc. The worst they can do is nothing right?
Well I got a response the next day from Kay Clark Miculek(sure hope I'm spelling that right). She said that Jerry was in South Africa at the world shoot and that he'd contact me when he got back and asked me for my phone number. Hmmmm. Time passes. I send another email. I get another response that he's out of town. I figured I'd try one more time. With in a few hours my office phone rings. Who's on the other end but Jerry himself. Cool huh?
He told me the scoop on why he hadn't contacted me. Work, classes, matches, catching up etc. I really do understand. Then we started talking about the problem I had getting the grips to work. He asked a few questions. He said that he thought, based on the symptoms that the stirrup strut was too long and preventing the grips from seating correctly. Okay. In the end he offered to swap the ones I had for a new set if I couldn't get them to work. Nice offer since I didn't even buy them new.
Then I asked him about the South Africa shoot. We talked for a while about the stages and tactics and reloading. A very nice man.
He was right. I shortened the strut and the grips slid right into place. I like them. Now I just have to learn to shoot the thing. I think I'll order the videos next.
While the response wasn't lightening fast, it came from the man himself. I understand that he's busy. I really appreciate that he handled it himself. It says a lot to me and about him.

G'day Charleym3,

He is quite the gentleman. I met him last year at the Desert Classic here in AZ. Fantastic personal character! Even when his equipment malfunctioned, he maintained composure. A true sportsman.

I wish several of those compeating would take a lesson from him. There is no call for foul language on the range.

Glad to hear things were resolved to your satisfaction. Cheers!

A year or so ago I sent him an email to ask if there was a trick to getting 8-shot .38 moonclips to work. (When I loaded mine up the cartridges flopped all over and wouldn't line up and drop into the charge holes.) Within a day or so I got an email from him explaining that they are sized to specific makes of brass and that he used the ones from moonclips.com (which is what I had) and that they are sized for Federal brass. I went I tried them with Federal brass and bingo! When I see him mentioned I always think of him as a southern gentleman.

I've had the same excellent customer service from Clark Custom Guns with all of the folks there. They go out of their way to assist customers. I recently sent a S&W PC 625 for custom work and its now the finest firearm in my collection. I've never shot a smoother revolver action.

Another vote of total confidence in Jerry and Kay Clark Miculek (who run Clark Guns & Personal Safety in Bossier City), and in Jim Clark Jr., who runs the original Clark Custom Guns. I've bought several (a LOT!) of guns from them, in their respective establishments, and half-a-dozen of my revolvers (S&W and Ruger) have a Clark action job. Feels like the gun's filled with melted butter... superb! I almost dislike demonstrating them to others, because whenever someone feels the action, they immediately demand to buy the gun, and I have a heck of a time holding on to them!!! :D

I also use Clark Custom Guns for my lever-action rifles - they do a great action job on them, too. My latest project for them is to shorten a Marlin 1895 Cowboy in .45-70 from the factory 26" barrel to 22", re-crown it, shorten the magazine tube to match, and do an action job. Should be a killer woods rifle and big-thing-with-teeth stopping gun when it's completed...
