A video tour of my collection

I shoot mostly handguns, so I put the video here. But there is a shotgun and some rifles featured too.

I encourage some similar response videos from the fine folks at The Firing Line. I'd like to see the inside of your safes/cabinets and hear a few quick comments and some history of each of your guns as well.

very nice, neat to see someone else's collection, I used to be very active on youtube, maybe i will make a video and post it up here sometime!

Nice collection. I have found posting your collection on any board just makes people jealous and defensive. I had posted mine before . No more.

I've also seen a couple cases where it leads to the collections being stolen. YMMV

It took me about 30 seconds to identify the OP's home town. A determined criminal could probably find his address and figure out when he's not home with another couple hours of research.

Smaug,

Very nice collection. I really want that Ruger Mark II you have...a .22 pistol like that is one of the next things on my list to acquire, either a Ruger or a Browning Buck Mark...or another .22 autoloader, if I find one I like and the price is right.

My Dad's old Browning Auto-5 looks a lot like your Stevens, blueing mostly rubbed away....very similar

I work in the insurance business, and often recommend that people videotape their belongings... especially firearms, collectibles, etc. Normally I suggest keeping a copy in a bank box or a secure location away from the home. IF a loss where to occur, you would be VERY happy to have that video as documentation and reference.

However, posting the video on YouTube makes me a little uneasy

Still, very nice collection and thanks for sharing :)

Nice. I'm a little envious, as I don't have any old guns. I grew up in NYC where only the criminals have guns. My Grandfather brought back a German Luger from Germany during his time in WWII, but my stupid uncle took it and sold it. I would've loved to have that gun.

In the 2.5 years since I started shooting handguns I've amassed almost 30 handguns, but all new. I had this aversion to used cars and used guns. Now I'm down to 10 and might start buying older guns. I just wish they had family history behind them.

Local Television News story....

Newbie gun owner posted the story of his first hand gun purchase, few days later the pistola was el stola from his trunk-co-la while he was having a brew in the coffee house. Brod day light, middle of the business day, middle of the shop's downtown upscale Silicon Valley half million dollar starter homes parking lot. No witnessess. No clues. One large caliber blue steel semi-auto pistol thank you very much.

Unless he posted his name and/or his address, that was almost certainly a coincidence. Do you realize how many members here post about getting a new gun?

Do criminals spend hours looking though online postings and videos untill they find one in a nearby area and then identify the person.

My point is, it seems like the odds that someone who is close enough to rob him and is a big engough low life to do so seeing the video are slim.

If I wanted to rob someone home to get after their guns I am not sure my first step would be spending hours on youtube (or message boards) looking at videos.

Video of my collection??/

Won't happen. I won't criticize you for doing what you have done but when the monkey backs into the fan there will be NO records of what I own except for the paperwork. I guess that is just a quirk of mine.

I don't think the newbie hangs-out on pistol sites. Some of our locals have some doubts on the entire story.

Living in Kalifornia it's a bit difficult keeping perspective when you have the politicians and the Homme Dee Poe crowd coming after your guns.

In the cases that I've seen, the person who stole the guns was "friends" with the person posting the gun information on said forum/Facebook/etc. I agree that it's somewhat unlikely that a thief from a distant state will drive all the way to Illinois to bust open Smaug's gun cabinet.

My tinfoil is probably just on too tight.

The (lack of) trigger discipline in the video is a clear and present danger, however.
