A Second Job!

Staff Alumnus
Since I can not sit still for very long, I decided to get a second job (flipping burgers J/K!!).

I got tired of doing web sites in my spare time because customers were getting under my skin.

So I called up my trap shooting buddy yesturday and asked him if he had a part time position for an overpaid physicist. He stated sure, when do you want to start.

So now I pack up my briefcase, take off the coat and tie. Then lace up my sneakers and put on a t-shirt in the evening and start my second job as a .....

Gun store clerk

LOL

It's a pretty good size store. They move over 3 million dollars in guns a year. The owner's been dying to get me to work there to help out in the reloading and handgun section (mainly 1911's). So in the cause to further educate society on firearms safety, RKBA, and to shoot the sh!t, I took the job. 9-12 hours a week and whatever days or weeks I want off.

My salary during the day is around $50 an hour. My pay in the evening will be $5.50 LOL I could careless if I DIDN'T get paid. I can buy new guns @ $10 above cost, used guns @ cost, and accessories @ 10% above cost.

If a customer annoys me, I'll talk to them about atomic theory or some other geek stuff we do here at work.

ArmySon,
Too cool.....man you've got the best of both worlds......whatever that means. ;)

Congrats......and take care. :)

Hey bro... If you happen to run across a H&K compact in 357 sig in mint condition...

I know where a good home for one is.. :)

Charlie, I have your email and when I run across one, you'll be the first to know.

I now will be able to find that Delta Elite before some other schmuck grabs it.

Congratualations!
I have said before that my DREAM JOB would be a gun store clerk.
It would have to pay enough to support a family and have full health and such - but still...

That's the beauty of it George! My day job more then pays for the bills and what nots. With a full benefits package from my day job, I can enjoy the job at the gun shop in the evenings. I can't wait to get started... been eyeing a BT-100 Stainless Barrel Trap gun.

ArmySon; Congratulations! That would be my choice of a second job...maybe even a first.
Keep records and at the end of the year figure how much the second job actually costand count it as entertainment.

You have to be there when it's all over. Otherwise you can't say "I told you so."

Better days to be,

Ed

Congrats on the new job. You're going to have to let us Pennsylvania TFLers know where your store is so we can drop by.

They carry Kimbers, Springfields, Colt, Glocks, H&K, Walther, Sig, Browning just to name a few. Then there are a ton of shotguns, AR's, Rifles, etc.

They also carry Dillon presses and products. Plus there's a fishing section. I start next Wednesday at 5:15.

You lucky devil! Working in a gunstore is like being cut loose in a candy shop. There's no end to fun, treasure hunts, playthings to fondle. Gee, I'd like to do that when I retire. Like you say, who cares about the wages? It's the benefits that count.

BTW, we've a rangemaster at my club who worked at a gunstore when he retired. Never brought home a dime. In lieu of a salary, he brought home guns at employee's price. Now he doesn't even want to do that.

ArmySon,

Excellent move. I wish my day job left me time to get a cool second job.
