A Remington 700 brake?

I want to take my Remington 700 to my local gun shop, and find out what I'd need to do to get a barrel brake on it. I'm just curious what I'd have to do to my rifle, and the barrel. What would this usually cost? Thanks!

Hi. How a brake is installed depends on the brake. Some are threaded on. Some are welded on. Not all shops have the machines to do it either.
Either way, unless your 700 is chambered in a big cartridge, a brake will significantly increase the muzzle blast and noise. The other shooters on the range will shun you as well.

I have had 2 brakes installed. Both are threaded on and I had a gunsmith install them. $150 each. That was a few years ago, it may be more depending on your local smith.

I've got couple and I'd sure stay away from anyone trying to weld one.
I think my gunsmith charge $150 and not sure what he charge for the thread protector if you want to take the brake off/on I'd sure get one of those.

I'm no fan of muzzle brakes,but I own one. the muzzle blast is worse that the recoil, in north GA. 100 bucks will get you a screw on brake but man are they loud

I have a Remington 700 SPS .308 and want to put a brake on it.
This company makes brakes and I have heard they work very well.

I had my Remington 700 LSS in 7mm Ultra Mag sent to Magna-Port and had a Magna-Brake installed for about $220. They did an outstanding job and took nearly all the recoil out but the muzzle blast and noise is worse. Really need to invest in ear plugs or phones if you get a brake installed.

I have read of more than one guide or outfitter who will not allow brakes on clients rifles.

My own experience is from a deer club here near home. Buddy had a 7mm Mag A-bolt w/ a brake and it was so noisy from our shooting houses that he would carry 'muff's along w/ him. He eventually sold it.

I started developing these brakes last deer season because there are no Made in USA clamp-on brakes(that I could find) to keep from having to thread my barrel, and after extensive testing on several calibers, they are ready for market.

The ones in these photos are raw aluminum(6061-T6), but they are available hardcoat(rc65) anodized in black or clear, if you'd like one raw/non-anodized it can be arranged.

They are machined on the same equipment and to the same standards as the military helicopter parts we manufacture. they are checked for concentricity of bore between barrel hole and bore holes with state of the art gauges.

They have a slight interference fit to ensure trueness of installation when initially installed. Mounting instructions are included.

I currently have them available for rem700 heavy barrel guns(.820"+.850" diameter), but i can make them to fit any contour or caliber.

They are NOT small, But they are EXTREMELY effective, watch the video.
