A REALLY short 1911 trigger?

I bought my much-loved Colt 1991A1 used a while ago. It had been customized by a local smith with walnut grips, a beavertail, tigger job... the typical goodies. It has a verrrrry nice trigger pull.

I recently replaced the walnut grips with a set of Slim-Tech slim grips. The original grip bushings were firmly staked in, so I did not try to monkey them out--I just filed them down to the correct size. The grips are very comfortable.

I then replaced the 3-hole Videcki trigger with the "short" Videcki adjustable aluminum trigger. It was surprisingly easy to fit it to the frame--excellent instructions could be found here:

Trigger fitting instructions

Looking at the old trigger, I knew that I did a much better job than that gunsmith.

Although the new trigger preserved the great trigger feel, it wasn't all that much shorter than the old one--only a few millimeters.

Is there an even shorter trigger out there? From books and pictures, it seems that an steel old G.I. trigger is as short as mechanically possible. Would that trigger feel as good as my "match" trigger? Where can I get a new one?

The STI shorty that's even shorter than the Videcki. You can find it in Brownells catalog or web site.

One of my really good friend's father has an old army 1911. The trigger is SHORT. I have shot with it a few times and it goes off if you blink hard. I think he may have filed the sear down some. You begin to think about pulling the trigger and BAM! Great accuracy and you don't have to worry much about trigger control, I suppose.
