A question for sig owners

I ran across a pre- 1994 P226 9mm yesterday for $499 with one mag(HI-cap). This gun looks to be nearly unfired, ever so slight holster wear on the very front of the slide, no appearent wear on the slide rails. looks brand new except for the holster wear. Should I jump on it, or pass on it?

Jump on it! There are plenty of Hi caps out there also.
P226 is easy to conceal with a good IWB holster .

Sounds like...

...a police trade-in P-226.

You can occasionally find them cheaper than that, but it's not an everyday occurance. If you have the dough and want the gun, I'd snatch it up.

(Would it make you feel ill if I said my .40 cal P-226 stainless, LNIB, 2 mags, w/Trijicons cost me $550? ;) I had no real desire to buy the thing, being more a P-228/229 fan, but some deals you just don't pass up. :D )

Do not go near that gun. SIG are very addictive and can be detrimental to your economic health. You start with a P226, and before you know it they are all over the house. Let me know where it is, and I will make sure that it does not ruin any other lives. I have had enough exposure to SIGs that I have developed a degree of immunity.

Run Don't Walk-

Go straight to the seller, tell him ya need
it for a Christmas gift. Purchase it, and
then wrap it in Christmas paper. When this
task is completed, review all your friends
name's that post on TFL. Choose one, and
make sure it is delivered by Fed Ex in time
for Christmas. The lucky person who receives
it will promise to give it a lot of TLC!!!

they have another one there for $435 with one 17 rnd. mag, well worn though! the place is called Michi-Gun in St. Clair Shores Michigan

Personal prefrence! But also... It gets to be registered as a 15 shot capacity. whereas buying a new 226 gets registered as a 10 shot capacity. Yes you can buy a new 226 and get some hi-caps, but if you have to use it, one of the first questions that could come up is "why do you have a 15 round mag in a gun registered as a 10 round capacity?"

Sorry, but I don't want to be the one answering that question.

I didnt go looking for a pre-ban sig, it just happened to be there and at a fair price.

It doesn't, but that is one of the pieces of information they collect in Michigan. Clearly the gun is not a ten rounder, the magazine is. I would make sure that when your dealer completed the little green card he took the time to fill it in correctly, and then you would not have the worries you do. If your dealer is not willing to fill in the card accurately, you might remind them that it is a felony to falsify the document.

Now, would I make you cry if I told you that I bought my P226 for $250 with 3 full cap mags? It shows quite a bit of holster wear on the finish, but is reliable, accurate, and well maintained.
