A Question for LEOs.

I have a Non-Resident CCW License issued by Florida. Though Florida has reciprocity with Michigan, it is only for Residents of Florida.
What prevents me from flying down and getting a Florida Drivers License with a Florida address, and then use my CCW in Michigan?
I can actually 'move' to Florida and 'move' back, can't I?
I hope LEOs can help me out, but any members who read this feel free to advice or comment.
Thanks,
Anand.

Its probably not worth the risk of being discovered. Generally, you must maintain a domicile in your state of residency in order to be a legal resident, although that varies state to state. Check the Florida laws.

You would probably be better off moving to Florida, and not returning to Michigan. ;)

There is something very wrong in a state that allows non-residents to legally carry a firearm while denying the right to residents.

I'm confused! If you have a Non-Resident CCW from FL (I take it you got it the same way I did by sending a copy of your State CCW)... why exactly do you want a Resident CCW?

Schmit,
I was a resident of Kansas when I applied for my Florida CCW License, now I am a resident of Ohio, both of which are Non-CCW states. Florida issues non-resident licences, one does not need to submit a CCW License from the home state(as in NH).

Most states now have laws against holding a valid drivers license in more than one state. I believe this was originally legislated due to over-the-road truckers who had a wallet full of licenses to spread their tickets out over. Plus, as stated by others, you generally have the license for your primary state of residency.

thanx for the replies guys,
what I meant was, I intend to have only one license, that of Florida. My Kansas License will automatically become void(the tag agency will cut it up.)

Referring only to the driver's license here, can you hold residency in more than one state? You can only tag a vehicle in one state and hold a driv lic in one state (as pointed out). Fla isn't an income tax state, but Kansas is, isn't it?

I think you could get tangled up in this. Most states collect ad velorum taxes (property taxes?) at tag renewal. Too many ways to track you and then ask hard questions.
