I Don’t Want to be Black Anymore

It's not working, folks.
I have tried to do everything I can to be the African-American I’m supposed to be, but I just cannot continue. I am hereby resigning myself from the Black Race. And before I get death threats from my Black brethren out there, hear me out.
I have almost made it through another Black history month, in which I’m supposed to do all I can to insult White people for 28 days. I guess I should even say the Black History month is a racial conspiracy by White people since they only gave us 28 (or 29) days to rip their dignity to shreds, while the other months have 30 or 31 days. I guess it’s just another example of the Black man not getting his fair share.
Frankly, many of my Black brothas and sistas’ are starting to… well... embarrass me. Can I turn on the television and not hear some Black liberal puke complaining about something?
I’ll start there – television. First we had the NAACP (Notorious African American Communist Pigs) lambasting Hollywood for not having enough Blacks in front of (or behind) the cameras. “We don’t see enough Black folk on TV.” An economic boycott is threatened, the ugly “R” word is used, and Hollywood (you know, those rich White guys) capitulate. Did anyone ask were the accusations true? And if so, who really cares?
Whenever I turn my television to watch my favorite programs, I see plenty of very wealthy and successful Black men excelling in their trade/craft. But I guess the NFL, the NBA, and Major League baseball doesn’t count. It must be just me.
I guess the "quota kings and queens" don’t count those folks. Then another “study” comes out. This one says, “While Blacks are over-represented on television, they are still given only minor roles, or are on screen for less than 5 seconds at a time.” And, of course, this too is unfair. The easy defense against this eternal whining was for anyone to just mention three letters: B.E.T
That’s right, Black Entertainment Television, where you can get all the Blackness you want, 24/7 with all those Black folks in front of (and behind) all those cameras. Gee, only about 60 million cable viewers can see that.
I guess it’s just me. Maybe Momma didn’t raise me right. Now we have that flag issue in Dixie. Most folks thought if they just took down that flag, all this controversy would just go away. After all, it’s a horrible reminder of slavery.
Strange, I can’t find a Black person in this country who can remember being a slave. I also can’t find one White person in the country who will admit to owning slaves. In fact, most of the Whites in this country (according to my investigation) had ancestors who landed on these shores long after slavery ended in North America. And I can’t repeat what some of those Irish folks told me.
But, for one month I’m supposed to hate the Confederate flag. Not just waving over the South Carolina Statehouse, but on police cars in Mississippi and in front of livestock shows in Houston. I’m supposed to call for the changing of the names of bridges in Virginia, parks in Tennessee and the defacing of portraits of General Lee. I’m even supposed to support Rep. King’s (R-NY) demonizing of every Southerner in the halls on Congress. I’m supposed to support and endorse all of this because I’m a Black man.
Yes, boycott South Carolina. Boycott the entire South until they get their “minds right.” This means, no Blacks (like me) should do any business with the South period. So, to that Black businessman in Memphis, sorry. Hope you can get some of those racist White folks to patronize your store. The NAACP says I can’t go there.
About the family reunion this year in South Carolina – forget it. Nope, not me. Our un-elected Black leadership says we gotta boycott. Don’t worry, I’ll explain to that Black soul food caterer in Columbia that the reason he’s losing so much business this year is because of a piece of cloth hanging over the capitol building. He’ll understand.
And Florida… we’ll have to leave you out, too. You see, Governor Jeb Bush enacted a program called “One Florida” in which anyone who finishes in the top 20% of his or her class gets a scholarship to a public University in Florida. I can’t figure it out for the life of me, but according to my Black leaders, that’s racist, too. The NAACP head (case) says we’ll boycott Florida until that’s changed. By the way, isn’t it interesting that the same people who say we should boycott everything economically are the same people who say Blacks are economically deprived in this “White dominated” society? What they’re telling me is that Black people are too stupid to make it into the top 20% of the graduating class, and that most Black people are too stupid to see through their lies. And most of these self-appointed Black leaders probably NEVER made it into the top 20% of anything. But nevertheless, they’re my leaders. Dan Rather, Tom Brokaw, Peter Jennings, Bill Bradley and Al Gore say they are, and since all these self-appointed “oracles” are White, they must be right.
Even Secret Service is getting into the act. Some of these guys, even though they get to guard the President and the Vice President, say they haven’t got the promotions they deserve. Where’s the dignity? I guess those White Secret Service agents get to guard folks more important.
Here’s a suggestion for the Black Secret Service agents who guard those important White folks (from the south): Wanna become heroes and restore your dignity? Quit. That’ll teach ‘em.
As a Black man, I’m told I should pin my hopes on making it rich when the NAACP gets their “fair share” from suing all those guns dealers. After all it’s those gun dealers’ fault for all those Black folks shooting all those Black folks. Perhaps next year, they’ll be suing bed-sheet makers, rope manufactures, and the South American drug cartels.
I have asked my Black leaders to sue the ATF, since the only product in America that “requires” you to list your race before purchasing it is a firearm. They haven’t returned my call. But then again, the right to keep and bear arms isn’t listed under “civil rights” anyway, is it?
It’s okay. We’ll just sue the gun-makers instead. That’ll teach them to not sell guns to us Black folks (so we can get gunned down for reaching for a wallet.) Yes, if we just sue a few more White folks, harass and slander the rest, one day – maybe one day--we won’t have to put a prefix in front of the word “American” anymore.
Well, I’m not waiting for that. I have done everything to try to advance the cause of personal freedom as a Black man, and to enjoy the liberty that my parents fought for, but it is just not working. These White people are just too smart for me. They made sure that I never had to wait at a Denny’s restaurant longer than anyone else does. Some of them hired me for simply having the brains to do the job. Some of them (the real sneaky ones) had the gall to judge me by the content of my character, and not the color of my skin. They’ve paid me in dollars with White slave-owners' photos on them. And, damn them, they made me earn it first.
They have allowed me to own my own business. They even went so far as to steal tax dollars from other White people to make sure I got an education – so I could like…make it in this world.
What an evil plot. Since there is almost no reason to bitch about anything anymore, it must be…institutional racism.
I am through being used. I am fed up with trying to conform. This year, when I fill out my Census form, I will let them know that I quit. I wish to no longer be a Black American. I want nothing to do with race baiting, whining, pandering for more tax dollars; family breakdowns, and the Al Sharptons of the world.
I don’t want to be Black anymore.
I am somebody, and I don’t need Jessie Jackson to tell me that. My father already did.
I don’t want to be Black anymore.
I refuse to be used as a statistic to get more left-wing socialists into Congress.
I don’t want to be Black anymore.
There is no need to make me part of a “protected group” as the California Governor recently stated. I can protect myself, thank you.
I don’t want to be Black anymore.
Please do not feel sorry for me anymore, White folks. That liberal pity-party really insults me, anyway.
I don’t want to be Black anymore.
You Democrats don’t have to act like you like me. I know it’s an election year. I am tired of being the Black “sheep” of the party. Leave me alone.
I don’t want to be Black anymore.
If it means disgracing my own heritage by insulting Southern history…
I don’t want to be Black anymore.
Since making the same statements Martin Luther King, Jr. made in 1963 are
now considered “racist” and “insensitive…”
I don’t want to be Black anymore.
If it means more innocent White people are forced to go through “sensitivity
training…”
I don’t want to be Black anymore.
If it means that everyone looses their freedom of speech, freedom to peaceably assemble, and their right to keep and bear arms…
I don’t want to be Black anymore.
If it means being a ward of the State, rather than a Child of God…
I don’t want to be Black anymore.
I’ll sign the papers, dammit. I’ll file the lawsuit. I’ll start the boycott this time. I have every right. I am sick of these media-selected Black prostitutes making a mockery out of my country, out of everything America stands for. I’m sick of them giving everyone else a reason to hate me.
I quit.
I no longer want a prefix in from of my label. From this point forward, I, J.J. Johnson, DEMAND that I be simply called…
…American.
PART 2
This is part two of the first article I posted by JJ Johnson. The link to the first article follows this article.
Black America - It's an attitude thing.
Sierra Times received a large number of responses to my previous article,
"I don't want to be black anymore." Most were positive. But for some
reason over the last few days, many of the responses have come from the darker
brethren among us - meaning black folks.
It ran about half and half for awhile and then what could be easily
classified as "hate speech" began to flow from a few. Some of these
complaints, (read: "insults") need to be addressed.
I will do so here.
We seem to have a major problem when it comes to race relations in the
country. For example, here are some of the names given to me by some of
you black folks out there in response to my editorial:
"Oreo, Uncle Tom, House Nigger, sell-out, uneducated, idiot, Klan-lover,
white-washed," and a host of diagnosed mental illnesses that I might suffer
from.
Like I said, "hate speech."
The best were the four letters we got from black people not believing I was
black, or for that matter, even a real person.
No, I wasn't hurt or angry. Not in the least. In fact, I believe it may
have caused a major breakthrough in this country. We have learned that
many of us at least have the courage to talk about these issues openly. I have no
doubt that, with any other news publication, many of the letters would have
resulted in my prompt dismissal from the editorial staff, after which I
could then sue the news company for racial discrimination, and not letting a
black man speak his mind.
But that can't happen here. The editorial buck stops with me. I can't sue
myself. And if what I wrote was so disturbing to the black community -
which apparently it was - I'm glad.
The fact that so many of you stopped by this web site to read what the
"crazy brother" was saying means something:
We've finally got your attention.
Black community, welcome. I’m going to tell you a little about me, and a
lot about the people who get online everyday and read our news and editorials.
The rest of this is for you.
Here’s what I found amazing. So many of you black people were upset that I
said I did not want to be black any more. And in those letters, you made sure I
knew all the bad things that have happened to blacks in this country since
the beginning, and especially these days. Clearly, you folks do not want to
be “treated” like black people. You want to be treated like Americans
(read:treated like “White Americans.”) So does everyone. That’s what
bothered me. A lot of the blacks who read the letter didn’t get it. You thought I was
actually talking about my skin color, and the fact that I might not have
wanted it any more. So let’s get a few things straight right off the bat:
My name is J.J. Johnson – not Michael Jackson.
It’s an Attitude thing. Not wanting to be black has nothing to do with skin
color. It’s the mindset that I’m supposed to have, the attitude among the
black leadership that needs to be dropped - period.
Here’s the truth: the recent frenzy over removing anything from view that
might be disturbing to you, insulting people’s ancestry, and making
statements and actions that fits the textbook definition of racism is a
double standard, and is getting on people’s nerves – both black and white. More
importantly, it does nothing to further the advance of black people in this
country. I was told (by many of you) that I should look up to people like
Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and Kwesi Mfume for all the work they’ve done for
black people, "and by the way... what have YOU done, Mr. Johnson?"
I’ll tell you, but first let’s take a look at a few things here. Mfume is
head of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. In
a bold move this year, he calls on the boycott of an entire state until
they remove a confederate flag (which many blacks fought under- voluntarily,)
thus hurting many black business owners. Not to mention, all those white
folks who were just laughing their heads off that “them damn Negroes” won’t
be coming down to South Carolina this year. Please tell me how this is
“advancing” colored people.
How do I know this? We get their letters, too.
Did you know that the first gun laws in this country were passed to prevent
“Negroes” from owning weapons? Those laws were passed by the north – during
reconstruction. Did you ever ask yourself, "If the 'War of 1861 – 1865' was
really about slavery, why didn’t Abraham Lincoln simply arm the slaves?"
Think about that.
Also think about the fact that the NAACP is right now suing gun
manufacturers. In their minds, it’s the gun’s fault that blacks were
killing blacks in the inner cities. Meaning the black person with the gun was just
too stupid to know better.
No, I’m not done.
Today, the battle is in Florida, where Mfume & Co. are attacking Governor
Jeb Bush's proposal to do away with Affirmative Action and work strictly on
performance based testing for college scholarships. I’m not the one telling
people that blacks can’t perform as well as whites. I’m not the one telling
people that blacks can’t compete economically with whites. And if I did, I
wouldn’t be out here calling for such hypocrisy as an “economic boycott.”
Let’s turn our attention to the Rev. Jackson. Here’s where you’ll get to
learn a little about me. His most recent claim to fame was defending
several adolescent thugs in Decatur, Illinois against that “racist” school
board. There were claims that these “young men” had their civil rights
violated when they were kicked out of school. And there were busloads of
blacks from Chicago to join in on the protest. Now, a little about me, and
“What have you done lately, Mr. Johnson?”
Flash back to 1997, in a place called Roby, Illinois. It was there where a
51 year-old woman was surrounded by IL state police for 39 days. Why? She
didn’t want the state to determine that she was crazy. They were going to prove
it by killing her. I and many others went there to make sure that did not
happen. After all, her civil rights were being violated too. Where was
Jesse Jackson? Where was the NAACP? Where was Al Sharpton?
Nowhere to be found. I know, because on the day of that protest I was the
only black face in a crowd of about 400 whites – all wanting “justice” for
the innocent.
But you probably never heard about it, because she wasn’t black. I sure
could have used a lot of black people there that day to really send a
message.
You were told that it was nothing but a bunch of redneck crazies, and
anti-government folks (who probably had racist leanings) all coming
together to stop those cops (who just love to profile black people) from
killing some old white woman they don’t even know. Yep, I was among that
crowd. You see, it wasn’t her skin color, it was the fact that she – just
like you – had her rights violated.
And it was those rights I and many of the readers have been screaming about
in a place called Mt. Carmel, Texas, where in 1993, 80 women and children
were massacred by federal forces. This was all under the direction of
William Jefferson Clinton – the man that has done more for blacks than any
other President since Lincoln. I’ll touch on that later. But I should
remind you (in case you didn’t know) that many of those radical, cultish
folks in Waco were black. That’s right. Many black people died there that day.
The people who come here have also been concerned about the mysterious
death of Ron Brown, former Commerce Secretary, and a lot more other people
who have died mysteriously during Clinton’s term in office.
Yes, I’m one of “those” people. The people who see our Constitution and the
Bill of Rights as something that should be protected for everyone’s
freedom, not ignored to make this group or that group “feel” better about
themselves, or to get someone elected. I’m not one of those people who
thinks the media is biased against blacks, and then sit there and believe
anything they say.
I’m not one of those people who blame every problem in America on white
people who never had anything to do with slavery, Jim Crow laws, or
discrimination, and are fed up with being told that they did.
See what I’m trying to tell you? You talk about profiling, police
brutality, being treated unfairly in the courts, etc.? You already have a
lot in common with those who read my editorials. A lot of white people wrote in
response to my editorial:
“J.J., I don’t want to be white anymore, either.”
But then we get copies of the Census 2000 form. Forget what Dr. Martin
Luther King said. According to our government, we will all be counted and
judged by the color of our skin, and not by the content of our character.
Can't you see the hypocrisy?
Most white people do not attend secret meetings to make plans on destroying
the black race. Most of them work hard to pay the bills and the taxes like
everyone else. They try to keep their kids out of trouble, just like you.
Many go to church on Sunday, just like you, and they have to deal with all
the bureaucratic BS from all the local, state, and federal agencies, just
like you do.
But when they come home from work each night, they get reminded of how
unfair they have been. How mean their ancestors were to ours, and how much
money it’s going to cost them to repair the problem – which according to
these black leaders, never goes way.
Let me put it bluntly: You can’t pass a law to make people like you! You
can’t tax people into liking you! You can’t sue people into liking you! And
all these so-called black leaders are doing is pissing off more non-racist white
people every day! It’s that kind of “black” attitude that I want
nothing to do with and is making a lot of us “no prefix” Americans sick!
You won’t find too many white people who’ll say that openly. No one wants
to be “tarred and feathered” with the “racist” label. I’ll say it, and you
can call me whatever you want.
Ever think that this kind of stuff may actually cause racism, instead of
ending it? We always talk about giving someone their dignity. But how do we
give someone their dignity by forcing them into “sensitivity training”?
Black people, (we) need to knock it off. This whole race-baiting thing is
done every political season to divide the races. It’s because the
Democratic party insist that their “black sheep” march blindly into the polling places
and select “D” on election day. And they know the Republicans are too
gutless to stop their baseless accusations.
You’ve told me about how Tyisha Miller was gunned down in Riverside
California. Well, I was mad about that too. And I was mad about what
happened to Rodney King. And I was mad about the Diallo case. Guess what?
So were a lot of white people.
We are the people who stand against the United Nations - an organization
that has fostered more wars, disease, death and destruction in Africa than
colonialism has done. And if they have their way, your fate in life will be decided by a
bunch of selfish, white, wealthy Europeans who don’t give a damn about our “civil
rights.”
I was also mad about what happened to Randy Weaver and his family in Idaho.
I get mad about a lot of what happens in America. But I don’t just look at
skin color first. Unfortunately, too many people do.
Why? Because that’s what the TV shows want us to see. They’d just as soon
you never hear about the white guys who get railroaded in federal courts
everyday. You hardly hear about when some black guys get together and beat up
some poor white guy. Whenever you hear about some guy getting blown away
by a bunch of “trigger happy cops," the first thing many of you do is check
the skin color of the victim, right?
C’mon… admit it.
If so, that’s where you and I differ. But if you're white, and complain
about the same injustices that many blacks complain about, you get labeled
“anti-government.” That’s what’s been going on in America these days. While
you blacks have been enjoying the political power you have achieved, and
doing everything in your power to protect that regime in Washington D.C.,
more black men have been thrown in jail (during this administration) than
any other – including Lincoln's. More black men will never be able to vote,
defend themselves, or start a business because of the policies your
democrats and many of the republicans have put into place. And where’s the
NAACP?
Suing gun manufacturers.
WE ARE ALL LOSING OUR RIGHTS! REGARDLESS OF SKIN COLOR!
Sorry to yell, but I wanted to make sure you got the message. That’s what
we do here – deliver that message - everyday - honestly. Welcome home.
If and when you return to these internet news pages, you will find that
the people here are not racists, they are not bigots, and they are not out
to get black people. In fact, the internet makes it easier for people to
ignore skin color and deal with the issues in an honest and open manner.
We tell you the truth. We tell you our opinions, and usually print yours.
And we don’t necessarily tell you something to make you feel good. If you
don’t like some of the injustice you see in America, stick around. If we all stay
divided by racial lines and “group thinking” there’ll be a lot more.
And we’ll never put a stop to it because we’ll be too busy pointing fingers.
Hope I’ve made my point, brothers and sisters.
