Hi guys,

I have a question for y'all:

What's the wierdest things you have ever found in/on a firearm to effect a "field repair"?

My list is fairly short:

1. Bailing wire holding the forend on a SxS 12 Ga.
2. 3 Inch section of brake line (recoil spring guide).
3. 16-penny nail (cut down and the head bent in a "V". Think rear sight)
4. Paperclips
5. Chunk of automobile tire (I think it was a Goodyear Radial) acting as a recoil pad.
6. A Nickel (section cut off and soldered to the barrel as a front sight)
7. Duct tape
8. Assorted phillips sheet-metal and wood screws. Even one hex bolt.

As a field expedient...

I once made a rear sight out of a decapped 45 ACP casing. Makes a decent aperture.

The High Standard Victor had a " V" trigger return spring. A shooter attending a match had lost his and asked if I could help. I happened to have a womens bobby pin ,the one made of flat wire . Trimmed to size it makes a perfect replacement. However he was a misogynist [hated women ] and when I told him it was a bobby pin he wanted no part of it .Since had nothing else it was bobby pin or no match.A painfull decision but he finally agreed !! :D
