A pertinent question

Do we have any OTR truckers on the forum? I wonder how it's handled, moving across state lines, from a CCW-OK state into a CCW-not OK state. Does the DOT have the right to roust a trucker and shake him down for a weapon if he is in a NON-OK state?

No right to "roust" a driver but there is such a thing as motor carrier safety inspections. Officers trained to conduct such inspections (can be DOT, state police, or any agency by law and whose officers have been trained) have the right to stop carriers and conduct full inspections which include certain inspection items inside of the cab. While in the cab conducting the inspection if a firearm is found to be illegally carried then the driver can be charged.

looking at another web site (www.packing.org) it has info by state and it shows states that honor other states permits. so I'm guessing that there are certain states that they could drive through with say a FL permit and have no problem. but I'm not sure what would happen if you drive through one that didn't honor it.

Whatever you do, if you have to drive through NJ, make sure you take your gun off your person and lock it in the trunk (if you're in a car that is)... NJ is the worst when it comes to dealing with firearms IN ANY WAY...If the cops find a magazine full of hollowpoints in your car, even if the mag is not in the gun, its jail time...You can't even get a CCW license in NJ unless you're retired law enforcement....I can't wait to move the hell out!
