Looks good. I would suggest though, that you use a sanding sealer on the wood before applying the stain. It will help the stock looking blotchy and give a more even finish. Most milsurps use soft wood like Birch so the sanding sealer is a necessity for a good looking finish.

I used the easy way out and just got the stain with a simple sealer in it, i chose to let it tack up and wet sanded while the stain was curing to fill the grains & sanding a bunch of the ****er wood back out for a different look.

Really happy with what i ended up with too, will be perfect in the woods should i choose to deer hunt in the bruch with it some day.
