A night in front of the TV

Fulfulling my responsibilties to inform and be informed, last night I plopped myself in
front of the TV to watch the news and talk shows. (OK, actually I was just tired and wanted to be a vegetable).

On CNN's "Crossfire," retiring Assistant Secretary of State Rubin was gushing about how this Administration had excelled in foreign policy over the last eight years. (I guess he hadn't heard that the military was
overextended in deployments, running short of hardware, and suffering demoralization).

On CNN headline news, anchor idiot Jim Moret
led with the story of the gun manufacturers suing HUD and several cities. His "take" on the story was that the manufacturers were suing because they objected to trigger locks.

On "Hannity and Colmes," an attorney peripherally involved with the Elian case described the MP5 used in the raid as a "semiautomatic assault weapon," and "a machinegun," both in the same sentence.

Later, on the same show, an attorney opposed to the idea of the Boy Scouts prohibiting gays from being Scoutmasters said that such an idea was illegal. The Boy Scouts often meet in churches, she said, and churches are public property. Really? Which federal agency funds them?

Finally, for a nightcap, I watched "The Edge with Paula Zahn," and listened to renowned nuclear physicist and supermodel Christie Brinkley describe her plan to eliminate nuclear reactors and replace them with wind-powered generators.

I woke up with a headache, and it wasn't from the beer.

The Left has taken control of the ideological nerve centers of the country: news, entertainment, and education. Somehow, someway, we've got to develop our own major news network, accessible to people who don't have cable, satellite, or internet. Many, perhaps most, people have absolutely no alternative to this constant stream of socialist, crypto-totalitarian twaddle.

BTW, I envy anyone who's actually shot their TeeVee. Even if firearms were legal where I live, there still isn't enough room to do any shooting safely. :(

A person must be VERY careful shooting a TV.

1. You will have to repair a hole in the wall due to over penatration.

2. You will have to clean up all the glass that flew EVERYWHERE.

3. And the discharge of a large caliber(NOBODY at TFL shoots mouse guns :D )in a small room, even a large living room, without ear protection is enough to give you bleeding ears.

4. You have to buy a new TV.

Only heard about this. Nope, never tried it. Nope. Nope.

After the raid in Miami, I'm so proud to be an American I'm gonna go puke!

A quote for which I can't provide the source right now: "Liberals own the networks, conservatives own talk radio, libertarians own the Internet." Sounds like an acceptable deal to me.

And, Rik44, whether there is a hole in the wall after you shoot your TV depends at least partly on the caliber used. For instance, a round from a .22 S&W revolver will not necessarily go all the way through. At least it didn't in the sole indoor TV shooting I happened to witness.

Monkeyleg,

Christie Brinkley should know about wind power. The wind has been blowing between those beautiful ears for years.

After thumbing the remote through CNN I decided to watch the "Ghosts and UFOs caught on tape" that was on Fox.
They seemed to be more in touch with REALITY than the talking heads of CNN! :D

Monkeykeg - Couldn't agree more with your feelings, however, "public property" does not have to be funded by any federal agency. Wal-mart, K-mart, etc. are public property.
Don't get me wrong, I personally think the defination of "public property" should be tax dollar funded property but LBJ and the boys thought all facilities are public thereby basically doing away with that nasty concept of private property. Not our homes YET but give Gore and friends a few months and that won't be much of a stretch.

RKBA!

Hmm. Churches are public places, that is, the Public or a large portion of the Public, has access to them.

I'm not so sure that a church would be public property. I'm relatively sure that the Catholic Church owns all of its churches.

:DI needed that!LOL

Rick44, I took my TV to an unsupervised public range and blasted the bejeezus out of it with a 12-gauge. Haven't replaced it, either. I just wish I'd had a camera at the time. :D

Sorry for pointing out the obvious...Robert E. Rubin was the former "Secretary of the Treasury" (look on your phoney money!). Madelline Albright is the Secretary of State.

What could you possibly expect from someone appointed by Clinton?

Hi, Paul. No, this wasn't Robert Rubin, the former treasury secretary. This was another Rubin, unrelated as far as I can tell to the sandwich I prefer to his presence. (I know, I know, the sandwich is "Ruben." So sue me :0 )
