A new Taurus

First let me say that I am not a fan of Taurus. Reliability, quality of build and customer support being my main gripes. However, that being said, I find myself looking at their new 380 pocket piece called the Taurus Spectrum. I'm sure many of you here have seen videos of it. If you haven't you might want to check it out. It's a very interesting little pistol. Sized similarly to the LCP, rubberized grips, wider trigger, and incredible ease of take down are to me rather impressive. And made right here in the states to boot. They have not been released yet, so I have not handled one, but I am looking forward to doing so. It's available in a myriad of colors if that is something that appeals to you. It doesn't me as I am only interested in all black guns. But some of those colors look kinda neat. The LCP may have a new challenger for that kind of gun. It will be interesting to read reviews from those who have put the gun through it's paces several months from now. I believe it is due to be released this month.

The soft touch rubber makes me nervous.

I've had soft touch rubber destabilize and get sticky just by sitting on the shelf, and I've had another soft touch rubber coated item shredded in a couple days just from being in a pocket.

To have it survive on a pistol, let alone in the presence of solvents and oils, seems unlikely.

Very interesting looking little guns. Even though my two reasons to not be that excited about the new Spectrum is 1. I need another pocket pistol like another belly button, and 2. I don't care much for technicolor guns. With my past very favorable experience with Taurus I may very well be looking into getting one just because I think they are cool looking. Kinda reminds me of the Remington R51 I recently bought.
All black of course. Or I might get wild, and daring, and go with the black/gray combination .:D

The black/gray combination looks nice I think. I've been planning to buy a LAPII for pocket carry, and probably still will. But before I do, I want to check this little gun out. Ruger has great customer support. I hear Taurus is supposed to be trying to make improvements in that regard, but they are Taurus.
