A new rifle

Hello I was thinking about getting a new rifle. I have no preference for brand because I have guns from all different manufactures. But I want a 300 win mag with a 26 inch stainless barrel and synthetic stock. I liked the looks of the browning x bolt but have never shot one. I already have a browning abolt 3 that meets all my specs but it's not stainless. Just looking for your guys opinions.

Hi. The A-Bolt II comes in SS with a 26" barrel and synthetic stock. You may want to look around to see if you can try a synthetic stocked .300 Mag(The A-Bolt weighs 7 lbs. 3 oz. in .300 Mag. Felt recoil will be substantial.) first, but Bass Pro lists 'em at $649.99.

The most accurate gun I have shot lately was a cheapo savage axis 243. That thing put 3 shots in the same hole right out of the box, and with cheap factory ammo. My dad paid 275 bucks for it brand new. They just don't make the axis to meet my specs.

I have a browning x bolt in .223. It's my favorite gun to shoot.

Favorite trigger, favorite recoil pad, favorite looks(white gold medallion), the mounting system is solid.

No complaints after about 4 years of ownership or so. I wish more people had them and didn't turn them away for being Japanese guns.

I looked at that very gun I will probably check on pricing tomorrow

I'm a big fan of the SS Winchesters. I took this photo Monday after wrapping up some long range shooting from 400-600 yards. The rifles on the left are Classic 70's from the 1990's in 300 WSM and 30-06 in the middle. The one on the right is a newer EW in 308. All 3 are in McMIllan Edge stocks and all come in at exactly 7.5 lbs as shown. These are accurate enough for my casual target shooting needs and a joy to carry when hunting. Not to mention one of the Classic hunting rifles, but with modern twists.

5" at 500 yards, the wind blew the bullets a little left.

I've come to liking the winchester's rifle and the EW really got my interest. I have two older 7x57 feathweights, a semi custom 7-08 with a Shilen barrel and a 6.5 creedmoor EW would be a great addition to my collection, but any EW is hard to find unless you order them online. Short action calibers are in so why isn't winchester making the 6.5 creedmoor?

From what you want it sounds like you probably have enough money to spend on a Remington 700 SPS stainless or a Winchester 70 stainless. Both will come with a 26" tube in .300 Win Mag.

Other than the Browning or significantly more expensive models you likely won't find a 26" barrel from the factory. Ruger, Weatherby, Howa, Tikka, etc. are all going to come in at 24" or less. Even in Mag calibers.

Them are some nice rifles. Last fall I bought a used win model 70 in 300 win mag it was a 1995 model it had the boss on it. It was in good shape I paid 450 bucks for it and I stopped at the gas station on the way home and sold it for 600 I've kinda regretted it ever since.
