A more solid stock for Mossberg 500

Hey, guys.

New to the whole shotgun thing. I just bought a 12gauge Mossberg 500 Persuader (20in barrel and 8 shot mag), and noticed that the factory stock and foregrip seem a bit plasticy, hollow, and flimsy. Any recommendations on a denser, sturdier stock/foregrip (in black synthetic)? Any special stocks out there that reduce recoil?

Hogue is good.
Speedfeed is good.

The Knoxx Compstock helps reduce recoil, and I have one on my Mossy 500. If I had to do it over again, I'd get a regular Hogue or Speedfeed. The Compstock does have the Hogue overmold stuff, and the forend is also Hogue.
 
Recoil reducing...

Shotgun Stock

Consider an aftermarket wood stock...particularly a Trap Stock. When properly fitted will allow you to aim with excellent alignment of sight and eye placement. Particularly in low-light conditions. You should be able to shoulder stock with eyes closed and open eyes to exactly where you wanted to point.

Other stocks can be fitted with an add-on piece of wood (oak, etc.), glued in place and then hand fitted by a good gunsmith. Doesn't necessarily look great, but does increase shooting accuracy (Trap, Skeet, Sporting Clays, HD).
 
I understand what you're talking about, mine actually had a fine crack develop when it slid down and hit the pavement many moons ago.

Unfortunately, I can't remember what i replaced it with, and i can't see anything to distinguish it right now. I thinkit might have be a Hogue, though, since I'm fond of a lot of their products.
