A little help from missouri residents please :)

I'm traveling from kansas to missouri and most likely taking my pistol with me. I'm just curious about how or if I even can cary it in my vehicle. Loaded, unleaded, does it have to be in the trunk? And help would be wonderful, thank you!

Tumblebug is right. MO allows you (assuming you're of age and allowed to own the thing anyway) to carry it loaded anywhere in the vehicle. Additionally, the vehicle is specifically mentioned as a "no retreat" location for the purposes of Castle Doctrine.

Enjoy your visit.

MO State Police are firearm friendly. We were traveling a little fast through MO from a S. Dakota prairie dog hunt. They stopped us and gave us a speeding ticket, but the only conversation about our obvious supply of firearms was the trooper’s inquiry about our hunting luck and which calibers we preferred.

Link for Kansas carry

Can anyone post a link for the carry laws of Kansas for out of staters? Thanks. Jim

I so have to move out of NJ and back to Missouri sigh... Though I am thinking of moving to Houston as well. Oh well, end of next year or 2011.. Only another year or two in hell.

Superstar might want to keep in mind that when moving his gun from the vehicle to a motel or hotel room to put it in a suitcase, or another option is to carry it openly, although some people will look askance at that. Once in the room, the Castle doctrine applies. Whatever you do, don't conceal it on your person on the way to your room, unless you have a ccw permit. If so this whole interchange is a moot point.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned, MO has no state law against OPEN CARRY and a permit is not required. However, some, and very few, cities may and do, regulate open carry.

JA--- Use this Link to get the Laws for Kansas. You can also got Ksccw.com Kansas Concealed Carry site.

The biggest difference in Kansas Vs Missouri is our gunbuster has teeth. DO NOT carry past a LEGAL gunbuster sign which is a "NO" sign with a baretta 92 in the middle at least 6" square. Kansas is Open Carry however some cities have ordinace's agaist it. If you do not have a permit you CANNOT carry a loaded gun in a car. It must be in an enclosed case.
