A little advice if you please?

I have been shooting my pistol recently. I have been practicing from 7 yards, and all my groupings are dead center except for being slightly to the left about half an inch. All of them. Atleast I am consistant but how can I correct this, or what am I doing wrong. I am a right handed shooter, my dominant eye is my left eye. Any advice?

uhh..why not just adjust your sights? I'm betting you mean that it happens no matter how your sights are adjusted, no?

This consistently happened to me when I tried shooting left handed, but right eyed. In my case, my shots grouped just to the right of the POA. I discovered I was consistently letting the front sight drift ever-so-slightly to the right just at the instant the trigger broke. I only discovered this once I discovered I was getting a little lazy at watching the front sight.

Try this during dry fire - be sure to watch the front sight carefully when the trigger breaks.

It may just be the gun, if it's a fixed-sight version.

A tiny bit of filing to the inside of one side or the other of the rear sight channel can correct windage problems of this sort.

It sounds like you need to put a little more finger on the trigger. If you are only using the tip of your finger you are pushing the gun to the left as you pull. Insert your finger into the trigger guard a little farther to pull straight back.

I do this on a fixed sight auto loader and on a revolver with adjustable sights. I do not do it on a SA shot, just DA.

So I need more finger on the trigger?

So I need more finger on the trigger?

No...just pull the trigger straight back without moving the sights.

Not trying to be a wise guy, but IMO, the answer may or may not end up being more finger. If you're used to shooting a semi-auto and only do this shooting a DA revolver in DA, this would be where I'd recommend starting, but keep experimenting and dry firing to uncover the problem. Your front sight will tell you when you've uncovered the culprit.

Shooting left is very common for a right handed shooter. You are pulling the gun slightly left when you pull the trigger.

You can adjust the sights or learn to not pull to the left when you shoot ( lots of practice).

Shoot it off of the bench to remove all shooting variables and confirm that the sights aren't off. If you're not confident that you aren't pushing the trigger when you shoot, have someone else shoot.

If you shoot absolute dead center, then make sure the pad of your finger is on the trigger and work on your trigger discipline.

All the above seems to be good advice. But if you are practicing at 7 yards, I assume you are talking about a self-defense pistol at self-defense range. Which means that a half inch is the difference between the right side of the bad guy's shirt button and the left side. Is that really a serious concern?

On the range as a safety officer, I have seen the shooters who were right handed pull the revolvers to the left with their left hand also. Check to make sure your grip is good and you are not pullong with your left hand.

Make sure you are standing ten toes on the line. Put your leg back when the distance is farther.

Also I agree with the last post, "Does it really matter at that range?
Why get anal at 7 yards...it is only 21 feet. 25-50 yards, get anal.
