I have received several requests for this list in the past few weeks,,,
So I decided to post it again.

Does anyone know of any other .22/centerfire pairs,,,
Or .22 LR conversion kits I have not listed?

I would also appreciate any reviews of the handguns or the conversion kits.

Did you intend that to cover the other Walthers... the PPK and PPK/S. Both also came in .22lr, 32acp and .380 and the PP in 9mm Police.

Would the Walther PK380 and P22 count?

Mauser HSC. Didn't that also have a .22 model?

Hello PSP and oneounceload,,,

Hey PSP,,,

I added the PPK and the PPK/L,,,
But according to Wikipedia the PPS didn't come in a .22 version.

The PK380 and the P22 are similar but have different dimensions,,,
Close for sure, but not an exact match for this list

Thanks for those other two though,,,
This is how we compiled the earlier list,,,
With input from a whole lot of good TFL folk.

Hey OneOunce,,,

The dimensions of those S&W semi's are not the same,,,
They are close for sure, but not exact matches.

Thanks for the input though,,,
I learned something about the Model 39/Model 52 that I didn't know before.

The K-22 and the K-38 are the Model 18/15 pair and the Model 17/14 pair,,,
I have them listed.

I added the Ceiner and Marvel conversion kits

Thanks Gentlemen,,,

Also, add:

Beretta 32 (Tomcat .32 acp) and 21A (Bobcat .22 lr)

Smith and Wesson Airlite 360/340 pd, 337/342ti (.357/.38 +P) and Smith and Wesson Airlite 317 (.22 lr)
(The 360 and 337 are exposed hammer, 340 and 342 enclosed hammer; 317 is exposed hammer.)

Aarond: Cant wait for you to get the rest of the list and do a review!!! The Evil Pawn Shop would be grateful too if you purchased those on the list you currently dont have! LOL I'm sure they would be happy to get them for you.

PS: great list. I need to get the S&W 34 and 18 to go with my mdl 36 and 19.

You've overlooked the Browning High Power.....22 LR conversions offered by Stahls and Ciener, available in 9mm, 40 S&W, and 357 Sig.

Aaron,

the Walther P1 came in 9mm, .30 Luger, and .22.
Korth revolvers come in .22 and .357. I have the rimfire version and hope to one day find the matching model in .357.

Conversion kits:

There are conversion kits in .22 l.r. available for the Walther P1, CZ 75, SIG P210 and KPS makes rather pricey conversions for a lot of pistols.

I just noticed that the GSP was already in your list but the S&W 681 is a fixed sight stainless L-frame revolver while the 617 is a K-frame revolver with adjustable sights. The 617 has no centerfire counterpart, the closest would have been the S&W M14 Classic in blue but with the underlug.

A variation on the S&W theme:

17-6 full lugged .22LR:

16-4 full lugged .32 H&R Magnum:

They also have a slightly larger cousin the L framed 586 full lugged .357:

The FM (not FN) Hi-Power is a Hi-Power clone manufactured in Argentina for the Argentinean police and military. They also produced some .22LR conversion kits, some of which made their way to the U.S. and were being sold by Sarco in New Jersey a year or so ago.

This is not the .22 Hi-Power conversion offered by Joseph Arthur Ciener.

Also, Umarex USA now offers a .22LR pistol that is externally like a 1911, and wears (licensed) Colt markings.

I would imagine that there is a pair Hammerlis in .22 and 32SWL

You are right, besides the 280, there is the rare and elusive P240. I shot one a few times and really liked it but the prices are exorbitant!

Here's a repost of my experience with a conversion unit for a 1911. Still have the unit but don't use it much.

I've got a genuine "Conversion Unit Colt Automatic Cal. 22 L.R." with the rampant colt rearing on the slide.

IMhO this is one quirky piece of equipment.

Accuracy of my genuine conversion kit on my genuine Colt .45 ACP is poor.
A lot of brands of .22 ammo jam in it.

One weekend I drove around to a couple gun stores and bought 'one of each' brand .22 ammunition they had. This was actually fun. I shot over a dozen brands of .22 and found my conversion kit functioned best with Remington STANDARD velocity. I'm not talking accuracy here just not jamming in the pistol. I still think this is strange.

Before I settled on Remington Standard Velocity I shot a lot of the promotional ammunition, the sub $10 a brick stuff like Wildcat or Thunderbolt. The Colt conversion unit has a "floating chamber" that moves back and forth about an eighth (1/8) inch. About 20 shots of the bargain ammo would jam the floating chamber with shaved lead so the floating chamber did not float any more. This seemed to have NO effect on reliability. The pistol still functioned the same if the chamber was jammed tight or really floating. Also it didn't seem to make any difference if the chamber was jammed forward or all the way back. That's what I mean about this being a "quirky" device.

I've read in the American Rifleman that the shaving lead problem can be cured quite easily by a gunsmith. I let one smith take a crack at it and there was no improvement. The Remington ammo doesn't shave lead and is much more reliable so I haven't pursued this fix.

I had a friend with (I think) a Kart conversion for his 1911 .45 and he got good results and good accuracy with it. He shot in tournaments with it so it was head and shoulders above mine. But as always your mileage may vary.

Great list! Perfect reference for buying options :D

Sig makes a .22 1911, its full size, but I dont know if any of their regular 1911s directly correspond to it for an actual pair, the basic nitron ones are pretty close though.
