I being a jew, and an orthodox one, Agree totally. I know hillel, he used to teach hebrew language at the high school I attended in skokie Illinois. He is a really quiet guy and extremely intelligent. He was serving in the Israeli army when they invaded lebanon, and saw a lot of sh*t.
I know one of the main rabbis, who is very pro-gun,He is the main figure head in the jewish community in the area. He was very vocal after the shootings, He didn't mention his beliefs because he said it would add to the already high level of anti-semitism.
It is sad to say that in chicago it is against the law to have possses a weapon, even a shotgun or rifle in ones home. There was a big debate for Indiana residents traveling to Wisconsin to go hunting and if g-d forbid they got pulled over, they would be thrown in jail.
The police patrol the area heavily there as I know, my in-laws live there (my father-in-law is an NRA member but can't own a gun) but crime wont happen when the police are there. Hey there is hope, I am starting to convince some of my jewish friends. I might be taking one to the range tommorrow.

"We are fast approaching the stage of the ultimate inversion: the stage where the government is free to do anything it pleases, while the citizens may act only by permission; which is the stage of the darkest periods of human history, the stage of rule by brute force."
--Ayn Rand, in "The Nature of Government"
