A good scope for 1100 Remington?

Just purchased a cantilever scope mount barrel for my Remington 1100 12ga.
Last fall I noticed the ol' eyes are starting to have difficulty focusing on iron sights. (Missed a nice 10 point in the process.) Any experience/suggestions for a scope? Hunting white tail in Minnesota. Most shots are under 50 yards, sometimes low light conditions.

There's two common mistakes people make when scoping a shotgun.

First, getting too much magnification. 3X is the most I'd use in a fixed scope, and any variable should start off at 1X.

Second, getting a cheap scope that will not hold up under use.

Leopolds are pricey, but one should last several thousand rounds without a prob.
