A Good Range Bag

I spent some time poking around the internet looking for a good range bag. I have a couple of S&W M&Ps (both .40 S&W; one a Full Size, the other a Compact), 4 mags for each, keep my brass because I reload, and need a variety of doohickeys and thingamabobs to do what I want to do when I get to the range.

So this bag at MidwayUSA seemed to fill the bill just fine. The bag arrived yesterday, and is everything the reviewers say it is . . . just a fantastic bag with lots of pockets and tons of storage, and even a bag-within-a-bag for ammo, brass, and other stuff. It also includes two zippered handgun bags.

I found myself at the 5.11 Tactical site earlier today, looking for a good gun belt. For grins, I decided to poke around in their range bags, and came across this little item.

As far as I can tell, it's the exact same bag, with a different logo, and lacking the two zippered handgun bags.

So if you're looking at the 5.11 bag (great reviews there too!), get yer ass over to MidwayUSA and save $80!

Alright, I just have to say that your post really ****** me off!

Because, I forgot to order one of those the other day when I was surfing their site, I went there just now and ordered the bag and 4 pounds of powder.

So, when I get yelled at for spending money at Midway, I'm gonna tell the Boss that it's your fault. :D

Don't worry, when she sees that bag, she'll want one for herself :D

Oh, and tell the boss you were looking at the 5.11 bag and saw my tip . . . and it saved you $80 ;)

I bought the range bag at Midway for $59.99 and loved it. A few days after I bought it, the price dropped to $39.99. I was P.O.'d. If I had waited a few more days to order it, I would have saved enough to buy a box of ammo. My motto has been, "He who hesitates is lost." Not wanting to let this deal get away, I bought an identical range bag at the new lower rate and gave it to a good buddy as a birthday gift. I highly recommend this range bag for those looking for a new bag or to replace an aging bag.

I have 2 of the Midway range bags that were bought a year apart. Great bags with lots of features and very sturdy. They go on sale for $39 regularly, so wait if you need one.

I got the Midway bag at $39 also. It's a great bag with more room than I need, at least for now :D.

Yup, I got one of those Midway bags several months ago and cannot believe it was only $39. I has so many features and holds so much stuff!

The only warning about this bag is to not hurt yourself when you load it up for the range and then try to pick it up...

Haha, I know exactly what you mean. I tossed my usual weekend's worth of ammo in the bag along with my guns, mags, eyes/ears, stapler and the usual assortment of odds 'n ends and all I can say is oooooof . . .

I bought an Eddie Bauer diaper bag at Ross's to use as my range bag. It had padded, segregated compartments and all kinds of little elastic type pouches on the inside. I can put 4 pistols in it, lots of ammo and target. It cost me $10!! It works well for me.

Does anybody use any of the Maxpedition products as a range bag? I know lots of folks use the Versipacks for survival bags, but how about a range hauler??

Regards,

For those who may be familiar with the Grizzly Tool Company, they now sell their own brand of range bag - it comes in two different sizes and several different colors. Check their 2010 Catalog for details or visit their website. Apparently, the President of the company is a competition shooter. The bags appear to be similar to the ones offered by 5.11 and Midway.

One suggestion for those picking up the Midway bag . . .

The gun rugs included are not quite of the same quality as the rest of the bag. The binding on the side seams is not "finished" on the ends. You can fix this easily by trimming up any loose threads and applying a butane lighter or match to the cut edge . . . this will keep it from fraying any further. It takes only a minute or two, and the results are very acceptable.

Thumbs up on the Midway bag had mine 2 years it will hold more then my old body can carry, room for everything even water.

I too have the Midway bag and the only thing I would add to it would be a small donkey to carry it. When I get it loaded with pistols, ammo, junk I normally carry and other stuff, I can hardly pick it up. I'm not a small guy but it still gets heavy with all the stuff you HAVE to carry with you.

Be advised that if you buy the bag and it isn't full immediately, you need to go shopping and fill it up. I'm sure the boss won't mind since you save so much on the bag.
