A Glock 34 slide question

I did a search but could not find an answer to my question:(

Does anyone know if this model always had the slide cut out from the very beginning:confused:

I think someone had posted pictures of the slide cut out when this model first came out and was ridiculed for posting fakes. I don't remember what board it was on.

Maybe they made some 2nd or 2.5 Generation frames before the current 3rd Generation with the slide cut out:confused:

I wanted to get a used or NOS G-34, but if they never made it this way then no use looking.

Thanks.

I believe the G34/G35 always had the cutout on the slide. While it has an obvious use for the ported models, it supposedly improves the balance on all models.

all G34s always had the slide cut out. also at least the majority of the G17Ls also had the cut out slide; maybe the really old ones didn't but i think all of them did. The cut out is there basically to save money. the cut out takes weight off the slide allowing glock to use the same recoil spring on the G34 and G17L as they do on the G17.

Another reason I've heard, is that the cutout reduces the slide weight and allows it to cycle properly. As far as I know, the 34/35's have always had the cutout.

MikeK - You might be right. I also heard that the cutout was made so Glock could use the standard G17 recoil spring. It is also used in the G22 and G35, probably the full sized .357 also.

An UPDATE(Since I can't edit my post anymore): I did find some pictures of a 34 with what looks like a 2.5 generation frame on at least a half-dozen foreign dealer sites for eg :
http://www.firearms.net.au/glock/glock34.html Of course you can't tell if it has the slide cut out. I also noticed the weight is a bit off (24.52 vs 22.92 oz.), even figuring in the magazine (2.75 oz.). Maybe some for the foreign markets did or did not have the slide cut out at first? I guess no such thing for the US market from the responses I got. Oh well:(

Reason I asked in the first place is because I wanted something longer than the 17 but shorter than the 17L(just a personal thing & not for competition).

PS- Thanks for pointing that stuff out hksigwalther! For a second there, I thought I was re-directing everyone to a porno site:o (yikes!) after starting to see Zena on the page (see below)

The G34 photo in the link (which doesn't show up because of an extra period (.) at the end of the link) does appear to have the slide cutout towards the muzzle. If you look closely at the top of the slide, you can barely make out the slightly depressed areas where the cutout and the ejection port are.
