A FUD experience: Poked fun @ FUD & payin' the price!

In a previous post on TFL, Whos gonna compile the FUD FAQ?, I poked a little fun at FUD. Of course, it was all in good humor.. but now I'm payin' for it.. (I think) :D

In this article, A question that FUD would ask..., I had a few questions for our fellow posters.

<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>
If only one other state in the south (Tenessee) honors a Georgia CCL, how would I be "welcomed" in another state if confronted by police about my concealed weapon? Since the only law I regularly break (I admit it, I'm a speeder) is the speed limit (how else could I get to Birmingham from Atlanta in 2hrs? ) its very possible that I could get pulled over. This could present a whole opportunity to get in big trouble no doubt.

Lets just say, I found out the easy way that Tennessee accepts the GA permit to carry concealed. :D While cruzin' through east Tennessee at a comfortable 85mph, I got caught. Po-po was nicely hidden on the other side of a bridge underpass and clocked me at 82mph in a 70mph zone. (I'd curse, but its my fault anyway.) At any rate.. since I'm not a good liar, I played it by the books.

"..now before I have you sign this, I want to let you know that it is not an admission of guilt..."

"Yessir."

"Mind if I ask you a few questions?"

"Nosir."

"Do you have any alcoholic beverages in the truck?"

"Nosir."

"Do you have any drugs in the truck?"

"Nosir."

"Do you have any loaded weapons in the truck?"

"Yessir."

(Could have easily said no, but seeing that I was a bit excited, I didn't want to risk being caught in a lie and having to "step out of the car." I think I caught him seriously off-guard since I said it rather proudly. Before I could inject that I had a permit to carry concealed, he asked: )

"Mind if I ask you why you feel you should carry a loaded weapon?"

(So I quickly made up for lost time..)

"Wellsir, for self defense... and I have a Georgia Concealed-Carry permit."

At this point, he perked up a good bit and got a big grin and said:

"Well, good."

..and handed me my ticket. :(

Without asking to see my permit, he wished me a good day and let me on my way. To shorten this post up a bit.. he had mentioned that he appreciated my honesty and would have just issued a warning. Of course, he could have just been another fellow gun owner.. But I'd like to think that it had to do something with him having to look across a beautiful gal in the passanger seat to talk to me.. even if that didn't get me out of the ticket. :D

Anyone wanna contribute to the KaMaKaZe 148-dollar ticket fund? :D

Sorry KaMaKaZe, it's your kharma, you gotta pay the price yourself. :)

That'll teach you to poke fun at other members! :p

Of course, if you would post a picture of the "beautiful gal in the passenger seat" you may get a few guys to throw in some $$$. :D

Glad to hear that everything went well, and that your experience with a TN LEO was positive.

I was beginning to wonder where you were -- you didn't reply to any of my posts all week-end ;)FUD.

KaMaKaZe, as a native Tennesseean I can tell you that our troopers are usually pretty easy-going about a few miles over the speed limit (up to 10 over is the unofficial word) but once you hit 11 over, they tend to feel obliged to pull you over, inform you of the error of your ways, and give you those expensive little pieces of paper. Hey, at least the ones I've delt with have always been polite. :D :D

Well Wade, I can tell you that in Georgia, its nearly impossible to get pulled over for 10<mph over the speed limit, and in other cases as well.. However, it was largely to my own stupidity that I got caught. I just wasn't paying attention and he was sitting right under the friggin' bridge. Actually, after I got pulled over (it was near Greenville?), I saw 7 more TSP in less than 5 minutes. What I really dislike about them is that they'll hide anywhere they can get a chance.

Oh well, such is the penalty for breaking the law.
