A friend of mine will be visiting. She's a 19-year-old college student who grew up in Chicago, so you can imagine what her stance on gun control is. She basically believes it's OK for me to have guns but no one else. I told her that she could ask anything she wants here and I expect y'all to live up to that standard. She will NOT be trolling, but she may ask some pointed questions. Be tolerant and kind.
Oh, and she'll be using my ID because she doesn't want to register. She thinks if she registers that gun nuts will have her address, name, phone number, etc.

If you are coming to Des Moines which I hope you are bring her along. She Might just find out we aren't ugly beer swilling crazies she thinks we are.
I checked out the sight for the meeting and it is a nice place, there is still some construction going on but the range is real nice as it the class rooms and other training areas.
If you can come I highly recommend it.
 
I can't make Des Moines, much as I'd like to, because it's the same weekend as yet ANOTHER dance for Melissa's sorority. I have to attend.

As for Gwinnydapooh, he's DEAD. Gone. Nobody's going to be using it . . . .

Which is why I prefer this Site to many of the others. Guns and gun control are emotionally charged subjects--but that doesn't mean that folks can't behave as adults. Here, most do--which says a lot for over 5,000 registered members.

I also like the fact that after almost sixty years of shooting and fifty years of handloading, I regularly gain new information from the "family" here. I enjoy being able to pass along some of what I've learned during those years.

Less expensive than beer-joints and bar-fights!

D.C. isnt' hard on newcomers with different viewpoints, per se ("Percy? Who?")-- it's just that she unsheaths that ridiculously sharp COSTOLETTA that is her wit, and lets those who are unwary get cut. Intellectual integrity usually prevents any major gaffs.
 
I cant believe shes afraid of us Gun Nuts. Does she not realize that Gun Nuts are the only people in this society that undergo regular criminal background checks. Your odds of being victimized by a Gun Nut are probably slimmer that winning the lottery.

Her name is Megan and she'll be posting under my name, which makes me a little nervous. But she seems like a nice enough lass.

Melissa works for a living; she doesn't have time to waste on a discussion board about guns. Besides, they all look alike to her anyway.

Yes Bullwinkl, very interesting. I may use that in future RKBA agruments. We are the only group of society that regularly volunteer for a criminal background investigation by the federal government. How many of the antis would be willing to subject themselves to government scruteny(sp?) on a regular basis? That would make an very dicussion/thought provoking thread on it's own.

The thing I thought about adding but didnt is.... God help you if a Real Gun Nut (TM) every wanted to get you. The Real Gun Nuts I know are then nicest people in the world but are also smart, tenacious, highly skilled, well read and pretty sneaky when they want to be.
