This is generational gun control, or, gun control by the back door, if you will. I'm certain that many of the people who object to eight-year-olds killing black bears realize perfectly well that if one can raise the age (and higher and higher) at which kids are introduced to guns and shooting sports, there will be fewer shooters and hunters.
There are plenty of us irascible sixty-somethings around now to write our representatives, join the NRA, and generally raise cain when the gun grabbers start up, but this approach is the surest and most final of all: in the end, we just fade away.....

When I was a kid (I'm not that old, 48) kids in the 12 to 15 age group went rabbit/squirrel/bird hunting on their own and nothing was thought of it. I grew up in Indiana, not in Alaska, Wyoming or the rural south.

Being active in the shooting sports & hunting was just part of growing up for boys back then. And guess what - we didn't have school shootings, pregnant 13 year olds and teen meth junkie/prostitutes.

The... feces that the "enlightened" social engineers have been shoveling for the past 40 years has obviously been a complete and utter failure at making our society a better place. The only thing the Demosocialist agenda has succeeded at is destroying a once great nation.

"The old ways" - hunting, gun ownership, hard work, courage, honor, integrity, patriotism, family values - are what made America great. If we want America to be a great nation once again, Americans must once again live and act like a great people.
