Can a 454casul shoot 45long colt?
Can a .44mag shoot .44special? Or is it the other way around?

Im confused on these, it will be a year or so before I get and of these but I am just wondering. Any thoughts?

Let's make this clear ... 454 Casull can safely shoot .45 Long Colt ... NOT the other way around.
In the same fashion .44Magnum can safely shoot .44 Special, NOT the other way around.
Even if you can physically chamber the higher pressure cartridge in weapon rated for lower pressure DO NOT attempt to shoot it!! (Taurus Judge in .45/.410 comes to mind)

also, I know S&W does, I'm not sure about other manufacturers but it will state in the owners manual what the gun has stamped on the barrel and what it can also shoot.

ie. Barrel stamped 44 Magnum / can also shoot .44 Special...

And no matter what gun you buy, the manual is sort of generic and will show the numbers for all calibers they sell.

here is a link to the manual in .PDF, the info is on page 8.

Just for the heck of it, you can shoot .38 spl in a .357mag., but not the other wy around. A .38spl bullet is the same .357" diameter but in a shorter shell.
