A few questions about the Glock 20

Is it possible with the Glock 20 to convert it simply and somewhat economically to .40S&W and/or .357sig. Of course a barrel change for each caliber would be needed, but would the other rounds need a different magazine? If another magazine is needed, will a stock .40S&W work in the Glock 20's longer magazine well?

If this type of caliber conversion is possible and plausible with a Glock 20 it will move up very high and very quick on the to buy list.

Feel free to add any answers to any questions that were missed :D

Thanks

All the G20 (and G29) need...

...to shoot .40 or .357SIG is a simple barrel swap. The two shorter cartridges will feed just fine out of the 10mm mags.

What Tamara said.

Also, the G-20's factory recoil assembly will work with the other 2 calibers, although some have swapped in aftermarket recoil springs in different weights when playing around with handloads. But, keeping it simple, all you need to do is the barrel swaps.

Everything else (e.g., the mags) in the G-20 or G-29 will work fine, as the .40 S&W and .357 Sig are derivative cartridges from the parent 10mm Auto. That's why Glock 10mms are Gaston's most versatile pistols: they're 3-in-1 guns.

And as it happens, the 10mm Auto is the most versatile handgun cartridge in the world.

I have 2 Glock's and they are both model 20's, so I guess I can forget trying to sound impartial.
I should appoligise for the why question, I just remembered the shear dismay i felt at my wifes ignorance when she asked me why on earth I needed another gun just like one i already have. I forgot the only real reason when it comes to guns is "because I wanna".

My G20 is more versatile than that!! With the extra complete G21 upper I have for it, I happly shoot .45 ACP out of it and could add more calibers by getting other barrels for that slide also. The G20 was my 1st Glock and it is still my favorite, chambered in the original caliber of course.

Sounds Good!

Looks like the Glock20 has just moved to the top of my to buy list!

Why?

I like the idea of the 10mm, and I have seen it used for hunting applications on whitetail deer. Although in GA the requirements are steep for hangun cartridges used for hunting; 500ft-lbs @ 100yards. Even if the 10mm can not produce that, I know it has the capability and is a very strong round.

For the 40S&W, I already own a Kahr MK40 and like the idea of having interchangable ammo between the two, and .40S&W is the most likely round for reloading at this time.

For the .357sig, The company where I currently work has two more firearm enthusiast and their truck guns are both Glocks chambered for the .357sig. The Glock will be my truck gun and the idea of all three of us having the same ammo sounds like a good idea to me.

Hmmm, an extra slide and .45ACP? Wow, that would be good since I already shoot .45ACP and that adds an even broader range of possibilities to the Glock20.

Why not buy all the Glocks instead, I simple don't and will not have the funs available to do so for quite some time. But instead of upgrading my computer so much, I can save and spend $150-$200 at a time on upgrading the Glock20 to another caliber. Having all the calibers available for the one gun will be great. I like versatility, my .454 shoots .45LC, my .357 shoots .38, my .22LR shoots .22mags. Come to think of it the only guns that don't do multiple are my semi-auto's, maybe that is why I like the idea of the Glock20 so much, a semi-auto convertible.

I hope to buy the Glock 9mm for my wife and for plinking and that will make a good selection of Glocks to choose from in the DaHaMac house.

Thanks for the info.
