A few "firsts" at the range.

Finally have the time to jot down a small reports of a recent range trip. In attendance were: Me, my wife, her Savage Mark II .22LR rifle, my Ruger SR9, Yugo SKS, Tikka T3 Lite .270 and Mosin 91/30.

This was my wife's first ever experience with a firearm and she did great. She blew through half a box of Remington bulk .22LR ammo. I did get her to try my 9mm, but she wasn't prepared for the recoil and it scared her a bit. I'll get her on my Ruger .22 pistol next time and then step her up.
She had been plinking away with the Savage at the 25yd lane for about 10 minutes when I lit off the .270 at the 100yd lane a couple stations over. I think she jumped 3 feet straight up even though I had warned her it would be a bit louder. :D
All told we burned up about 250 rounds of .22LR, 100 rounds of 9mm, 60 rounds of 7.62x39, 6 rounds of 7.62x54R and 10 rounds of .270 (testing a couple of handload recipes).

A good solid 3 hours of fun. Getting the wife interested in shooting is really nice. She had approached me with the idea and she picked out the rifle she liked. Color me happy!

Nice!! I worked on my wife, but with no success. Every since our child was born, she's a had a pretty legitimate reason to not be able to come because she has to stay home with her.

Maybe one day... :)
