A few COMPACT Storm (PX4) questions

Have an SP 2022, and a P99, and as you can see am trending DA/SA these days. I am mulling over a PX4 compact because it gives me the size, or smaller of the G19 and seems to have a decent trigger. I know these guns are NOT as popular as some, but they seem decent to me, and the DA has NO stacking. A couple questions:

- Also considering the HK P2000, but not SURE I like the LEM and the DA on HK guns is awfully hard - albeit smooth. Anyone own both and can compare.?

- To get rid of the dumb safety, and change out the ridiculously big levers, AND get night sights I'm at the price of a P2000. So... I question the PX4 on these terms. The HK is a known LE performer and the finish is flat out better.

- Is it worth the wait for the Langdon version, and I GUESS the price point on the street will be over $600 - right?

Brian, have you considered the idea of picking up a used one for less than the cost of brand-new to keep costs down after you add the slim levers and night sites?

Concerning the P2000, I personally don't care for the LEM trigger, instead preferring a regular DAO, and I'm also not a fan of any HK's initial DA trigger pull. Not saying they aren't an outstanding pistol, just not my cup of tea.

Another one you might want to consider that is DA/SA and is practically identical in size to the G19 is CZ's P-07. The new UG Suppressor-ready models come with night sights and from a quick scan on Gunbroker, am seeing them in the high 400's/low 500's price range. Another option would be to buy the regular model, which can be had in the low to mid 400's, then pick up night sites direct from CZ USA for roughly another $80 or so.

- I like the P07, but chose the SP2022 over it. The SIG trigger is just better. I find that the P07 grip is just too skinny. It highlights recoil rather than soften it. I'm even a CZ guy, and like the P01 also, but I like the grip, feel, etc. of the Storm, P99, and SP 2022. The night sights available for the CZ models are 'non ledge' - in other words almost impossible to do one handed manipulations. Don't get me wrong - I started with CZs and like them. Just not right for me.

- I may just get another P99. Its accurate, totally reliable, has a tremendous SA. The ONLY thing I can criticize is the stacking at the end of the pull in DA. I think Walther got it wrong here in thinking people want to STAGE their pull - which is the wrong thing to do in DA. BUT, you can get a clean pull and not feel the stack as long as you concentrate.

- What I like about the PX4 and SP series is the smooth traditional DA pull that breaks at a good weight.

Having said all that, if SIG marketed the SPC 2022, the hunt would be over.

Right now my P99 is making it tough on me. Today it shot great and with a 6 lb glock Spring, the da is light and smooth. It's a tad bigger but not a bad size, and very light.

It has been 100% for me, even with the 10 lb. spring although I use the 12 lb. spring myself. That's something you should always test yourself though.

I've owned the P99. While I think the trigger is better than the P2000, I actually shoot the P2000 better seemingly despite that. The P2000 is also, imo, a more convenient size for carry if that's a concern.

I also handled a CZ P-07 today and in terms of grip I liked the pistol, but I found the DA pull to have sort of a hump in the pull. It wasn't stacking, more like I was feeling the trigger bar rub on the frame. Maybe there was something wrong with that particular example? I though the SA was nice but the DA was not as nice as a P2000. If you are comfortable with a SP2022 I would think the DA on the P series HKs would be up your alley.
 
I think if your patient, you should wait for the Langdon px4 Storm. I have no doubt it would be worth the wait. I think you're probably right in the price range your thinking, maybe closer to $700 but I think it will be pretty awesome.
 
You can create the Langdon version yourself. It's primarily Talon grips, HD night sights, and the G conversion. My only caution would be Beretta is notoriously slow at getting new products to market, so it could be a while (which is a shame as I'd be interested too).
