went out to a freinds tank today and shot some of my guns, fun time, man that gp100 4inch full underlug was sweet, very nice shooter, i think it is now my favorite handgun,, no problems, very accurrate was hitting shotgun husks at about 10 yards 3 outta 4, double action pull, single action a little better, the 44 redhawk was quite a load after shooting the gp100 though, like those 44spcls out of it , it did lock up a little bit, it might have been getting a little hot after we ran about 20 or so rounds through with the magnum ammo, the trigger spring on the gp100 that i put in makes a big difference , i am going to do the same for the redhawk as well, another convert to the 357, what a nice round, plinking with the 38's was fun too, now about the autos.....if only they worked as well

any ideas on how to help with the redhawk lockup problem? the trigger in double action got really stiff and wouldnt crank it around well, so just worked it a little, had to pop out cylinder a couple of times and then it went bang,, any ideas?

For the Redhawk lockup in DA: check the front of the cylinder. Most likely it has a slight drag mark from the barrel. If you were firing .44 Special first then .44 Magnum, the residue in the chamber may have kept the magnum cases from seating completely. When you closed the cylinder, it pushed forward and contacted the barrel and then the DA pull is stiff to impossible.

The above scenario really shouldn't happen, but it does. I have the same problem with mine from time to time.

Another possibility is that lead or powder fouling on the front of the cylinder caused the cylinder to bind against the barrel.

gary, i don't think it was the not realeasing of the trigger allthe way, the trigger locks up as you say if you do not, but i wasn't shootin that fast, no bob munden am i, it was weird though, so took apart the redhawk last night and cleaned it all around, man it sure does get dirty after about 100 rounds--much more dirty than my gp100 did, course there is a tad more powder going off
